I have a stove like the Colman that my Grandpa use when we went trout fishing. I’m going to get it running to show my kids 7 and 10 years old. Thank you for the videos.

That's some cool little stoves. I went yard saling Saturday and bought a 1-42 Mac for $15 bucks. All that I had to do was clean the carburetor and put a fuel line and filter on it.

The sound of the McCullochs is called the( Sound Of Power ! ) Yes they are loud. Good thing that hearing protection is readily available. Mrs. O is coming right along, and it will be great when she can walk again.

Awesome to see ya and thanks for the update on Mrs O. Good old camp burners. I've got a couple I'm sure not as nice as yours but they are neat!
@mrobsoletesvintagehomestea91565 ай бұрын
When we were kids, we camped a lot and were in the Boy Scouts too, and we used Coleman stoves and lanterns quite often. I don't camp much, but still use my stoves and lanterns quite often for other purposes. Along with using them, I like to collect them and find the history behind them fascinating too, plus they run on gas and kerosene, some of my favorite liquids.

I hope Mrs. Obsolete is doing well, as well as can be. I'm glad to see ya back. Great little stove, Obsolete stuff is cool. I did finally mess a little (be to busy) with 1 of my macs. Mac 10 10.pro. Has good fire, filter was filthy an gas lines are hard. Didn't have much time , was repairing gauges on 1 of wifes favorite vehicles. Glad your ok , take care cooler weather not far away.

It's great to be back. Mrs. O is healing up well, but her recovery is a slow process due to the extent of her injury. Thanks for the kind words and for watching. The Pro Mac 10-10's are an excellent midsize saw. You will be happy with the performance.

Glad to see you back. Hope the better half gets better. I had a single burner like the one you have with the green tank. Bought it in the 70’s. It went with me deer hunting many times. I well remember one supper that I cooked on it in the car - it was snowing heavily outside the wind was blowing and it was freezing outside. I burned Coleman fuel in it.

Mrs. O's recovery is right on schedule. It will be a while before she will be able to walk and do video's again, but we will get a video every 2 weeks with help from friends and family. Your Coleman story is like many others in that they were widely used and were a simple, reliable and well made product produced in the USA.

The newer Colman Duel Fuel stoves can burn unleaded gasoline but is it safe?
@mrobsoletesvintagehomestea915611 күн бұрын
Newer Coleman stoves and lanterns are rated as dual fuel, meaning one can burn regular gasoline or white gas (Coleman fuel), in them, but they will give off toxic fumes from the additives in gasoline. This means outdoor use only.

Wait a second... so what you are saying is this thing Burns 50 octane white gas but does not produce carbon monoxide? That pretty much runs contrary to everything I was ever taught. How sure are you about what the actual controversy you mentioned refers to? I mean it must have some basis in reality as you spoke about a heater drum that they make for the thing but like you said, these things are from the 60s... no one gave a shit about that back then, right? Unless they went to, and actually completed Junior High, that is. Well, one thing I won't question is that the American propensity to shrug off dangers and environmental hazards to themselves and others may be the real product review here. Sorry about your wife. No offense intended on the comments here. Good luck... fellow camper.
@mrobsoletesvintagehomestea91565 ай бұрын
In the past, Coleman said you could use a lantern or stove in an enclosed area as long as there was some ventilation. Today they say the exact opposite. The former is true if using white gas with no additives, not so if using regular gasoline. Gas for cars has lots of additives, which can be harmful if breathing the fumes. I have seen tests where they were operating camp lantern and stoves in enclosed areas, and no noticeable carbon monoxide was present using white gas. It is best to have some ventilation though, as the oxygen can be depleted and there is an odor from burning the fuel. Today's Coleman gas stoves and lanterns are called dual fuel, meaning they can burn gasoline and white gas. Earlier stoves and lanterns were designed for white gas only. Best to always some ventilation. In the cold weather, I use a Coleman catalytic heater in my small shop and use my lanterns in the shop and house when the power is out, and I always have some ventilation. Works fine for me.
