I purchased “Splinter of the Mind’s Eye” at school via a book club and read it in 1979. I agree it was a good story. It was nice to have that book to read in ‘79 when the only other Star Wars story I was aware of was the 1977 movie.

That Sci-Fi Book Club version of the original Star Wars novelization is giving me heavy nostalgia. Item of note, that original novel has George Lucas' name on it but the actual author was Alan Dean Foster.

As I recall there's a sly reference to THX 1138 in the first SW movie when Han tries to fake an ID in the Death Star.

Cool . One of the first SW i read was Splinter In The Minds Eye .I first saw the book jacket displayed ,I had to wait a bit befor i found it in the library .I saw the Force book in a religious book store, but i did not buy. "Too much " publishers was useing SW to sell their products ( my bias opinion ) .The Hans Solo books worth a gander . I believe the three have been place in one book. The same for the Lando. Not sure how easy to find in good condation .Thanks for the video .

Thanks Sylvan! Yes, the Han Solo trilogy and the Lando books have been put into omnibus editions. Splinter is a great story👍

The UK printings of all the paperbacks from 1977 Star Wars, to Splinter of the Mind's Eye and the Han Solo books from Brian Daley are cool. Sphere books put them out, I think. That yellow cover and the raised Star Wars lettering with the alternate W they didn't use on the final posters or any thing like that. Also how cool is that THX paperback from noted science fiction author Ben Bova.

Thanks Matthew. You're right, it was Sphere/Futura who published the UK editions. They are almost iconic to anyone who read them at the time. The THX paperback is lovely, I might keep it!🙂
