Vintage Story 1.20 E27 Elk Feedback, New Daub, & Waiting

The elk really needs to not pause every time it ascends a single block. Outside of that it’s amazing.

This is especially frustrating when riding at a slight angle to a block edge. The elk will pause over and over without stepping up

Cannot wait to work with the elk! Want to be able to own TWO elk-one brown, and one albino. Of course their stable will be top notch-feed troughs, water troughs, hay bedding, wood floors, secure windows (no murderous wolves or bears gaining access), stone walls, shingled roof, tall double doors with one set to the outside, and the other to a large paddock that has four block tall fencing with a two block wide outer overhang of half-slabs, with a shallow water pool and very small hill dotted with berry bushes. Beautiful landscaping around the stable and paddock, with a path that leads to the house. Then I will be building a wide dock in a U-shape for the sailboat, and hopefully by the time the stable version is released there will be different colors for the sail. 😁

If we are ever on the same server, I will build a blue daub guesthouse for you (bedroom, 4-piece bathroom, modern kitchen, dining room, living room with fireplace and bookshelves)(interior design elements surprises 😉), that has a spring-fed pool with diving board, and an aquascaped fish pond. (that way you need not become an honorary member of the Elk Lodge 😆)

Makes sense to have the daub in the various rock colors. Of course IRL the colors would likely be even more muted and likely closer to dirt but in principle, if you were to settle somewhere, your building materials would be tied to the location you're in. This was already true for the various wood types in the game, or the rock types for rock based blocks, and now they expanded this further. I'd wait for the stable release for a new world. We've seen one of them candidates had some severe issue with world gen and afaik they also disabled the corals. I also wonder if they'll already add a ocean spawn chance to the default settings yet or if we still have to enable them manually. Because with the boat and the new underwater stuff I think they're quite a bit less boring now.

The trader wagons have wheels, and I'd argue some of the mechanical stuff is round enough too. A plow would also be cool, to make large new fields and to get rid of grass when you left them fallow or if your crops died.

I have never finished the resonance archive. That part of the game doesn't appeal to me, so I'm a bit bummed ill have to go there to get an elk. And sorry to say this, Ashantin. But you are not allowed to start a new world till you do something about that sad looking windmill. :)

its the distance you have to go, if your archive is 6k from spawn, sure its not bad, but when the archive is 40k north of spawn and you freeze every other chunk or how ever far it is, its not fair.

I would make it a quest for the traders, a chain of quests not just one turn in of gears or something, do 5-6 maybe more chains to do, following technology progression.

Good idea! Maybe make it so they cost 200 gears but if you want them for cheaper then you have to do the quests and then it would be half price?

I know im a newish player, but I've never had over 30 rusty gears in any playthrough 😂 I dont really sell things to the traders because they are more useful to me than the gears.

Hey mate, as you play the game you will find different types of traders. I found a trader that will buy 4 different types of bread from me. So that's one way to get gears. It will take a while but it's possible. The other way to get gears is by hunting the mobs:-) Just got a bit better combat. You can explore ruins and caves to find gears. Panning is also another way to find many useful things including gears.

I pan a lot, particularly bony soil. Artisan traders and some other traders pay a lot for the gems you find panning. You can also get rusty gears by panning so it’s something worth doing.

I'm a little confused about what will be the final version of getting an elk - will it be sold or tamed? Will we have to breed 10 generations of elks or find a specific trader selling them?

@@Necrius We don’t know yet. All we know is that the trip to the Resonance Archive is a temporary fix and that the devs are working on elk breeding and taming.
