Crochet Granny Square Blanket Tutorial // Vintage Granny Square Blanket

My yarn arrived last week and I started this blanket yesterday! The colorways are stunning! In 49 yrs of crocheting, I have made many blankets, scarves, totes, etc....with the granny pattern. I never tire of it. I have only 2 blankets in the pattern because I have always given everything away! Not this one! Thank you, Anja! I have been fighting a horrible diagnosis this past year and so far, I am winning the fight. I don't know what I would have done with Anja and other excellent and professional knitters and crocheters on KZbin. My heart aches for Melanie Hamm. I do not know what I would've done without my crocheting and knitting and my favorite KZbinrs. God Bless you, Anja 😇😇💗💗😇😇

Yes. The one I am finishing is similar in size but I gravitate to bright colors. I loved how you rotated a palette of more subdued colors. Also, I never have done the join as you go and want to try that for my next one.

i liked the way you had two baskets and moved them when you were done with a round, the simplicity of it and joining as you go is a better way than waiting til all squares are finished. Having seen your Jan 30 Sunday Live, I think I picked up a hint... Am I correct that one needs to use the three border colors on the lower-numbered granny rounds? If true, what is the suggested 'highest number", to have the best shot at having enough yarn for the border???? I am IN LOVE with that border!!!

Hi Nancy, I would suggest you'll be ok up to round 5 with the border colours, I wouldn't go much further though, just in case, Anja x

I think the beauty of these wonderful colours is that they will all look good next to each other, sometimes planning the colour order can be difficult and take time and fun out of a project, I’ve made granny squares with my scraps and just doing a random dip has produced some lovely colour combination.
