Making a vintage-style tag for Josie Gitto's birthday package. This is definitely something different for me, but I really wanted to give this style a try -- and I like it! Hope you do, too! :)

Thanks so much, Sherry! Yes, 4 years ago, when I filmed that video, I was definitely more of a perfectionist than I am today. Mixed media art is very freeing and has allowed me to be happy with the imperfections in my art. 😊 My motto is, “It’s doesn’t have to be perfect, it just needs to be fun!”

Great tag! I think collage in particular allows one to more easily try a new style. The same rules of color, composition, etc, still apply while the maker changes up colorway and materials to get a new look.

WOW!! Love your work...wish you would of listed the colors you used on this tag . Especially that there are several blue/greens/aquas colors that kinda resemble but end up not the same color. hello, i love the tag and i am looking for a supply list but i don't seem to find one. i especially would love to know how you did the early steps with the turquoise color, what you rolled it on with, and just a little later what did you use to take off part of the outer turquoise colors????

Thank you very much for your comments. I used a brayer to roll on the turquoise paint, just to give it some color here and there. You could do the same thing with a sponge, dab some in random spots. I removed some of it (and lightened the color) using a baby wipe. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. 😊 Thank you for watching!

If you want to save a little money, I would suggest you get an over liner. They work exactly the same way as the craft mat and most of them are the same material. Gift wrap tissue paper works great. And possibly any thin waxed paper with wax on only one side might work well.
