@Summerof-gi5mq10 ай бұрын
You probably remember the old glamorous times: Lana Turner, Ava Gardner, Gene Thierney.... And now you look around you and see: Megan Three Stallion, Madonna and her creepy daughter Lourdes... People don’t write long love letters any more, just a quick “Hi! LOL!” on their cellulars. Mom told me that in the old days “going on a date” meant: meeting the boy near the metro and go for a walk in the Park... and talk about school and projects. And that’s it! From innocent movies like “A Patch of Blue” to “them” Sam Smith dancing in red woman’s underwear at the Grammys. At least you remember the good old times...

The Evolution of Music through the 1900s alone is just phenomenal. Even though Art Deco has lost its popularity, before the Mid-Century era began, its impact has forever left its mark on the skyscraper scene and the Music and *Art* scene. Then in the late 60’s everything changed...! (The hippies era). Books like “How to talk about sex to your children” appeared. Sexual revolution full speed.. ! Then it kind of “calmed down”, I remember the 80’s as the best time ever. Internet did not exist and who cares! We sent faxes! After year 2000 things began to change... I just turned 20 (literally yesterday turned 20) and this music has been around me my whole life. It’s my favorite kind of music 40’s-50’s especially but any music from the 20’s-50’s. It’s so fun and classy. The musicians were all so talented. I’m not saying that people today aren’t but it is a lot easier with auto tune and what not. These people all had real singing, real live instruments being played. It makes it feel so much more…More. These people worked hard to create some of the best music of all time. And even after all of these years it’s still so good and still holds up.

I was born in 1956 however the 40s is one of my favorite era's. Women dressed like a lady and were proud of it. The 70s were my stomping grounds. We shampooed and rolled our hair sat under hooded dryers. Our lipstick matched our nail polish. Belts matched our purses it was glamorous. Getting a tattoo was never an option. I dearly miss those days.

Love this music and the dances that went to it.❤❤

Same thing with my mother, she also loved to dance and sing to 1940s & 50's music. The last few years of her life she couldn't remember me or my name but when I played her old records on the cheap record player in her room she would light up and sing along to all the songs word for word!

Anyone who loves this music get yourself to a swing dance class - you’ll have a ball and get to boogie and lindy all night. (Damn my gammy leg!) By the way the illustration would make a fabulous jigsaw puzzle.

Jitterbug anyone? Mom and dad never said if they did that, but they knew how to Walz and Polka. Since dad was a big Benny Goodman fan he got a clarinet as a kid when he was 9 which would’ve been 1936. He squeaked. I have his clarinet. It’s 88 now. No reeds and the handle rotted off the original case. We saw him in concert in 1975. Dad was so happy. I was in awe seeing dad’s idol.

I'm in my mid 60's. I played sax for many years as an intermediate armature for fun. I was asked to be part of a big band one year and we were book for New Years Eve. We only had two weeks to get ready. They wanted me on Alto sax, sure enough I developed a leak and had to get my sax repaired. Cost me about $135. We played our gig and as expected were not very good, but we were cheap. I earned $60 for the night. In all it cost me $75+ to play that night. For me it was worth every penny for the fun and memories. lol
