Thanks for sharing your knowledge of boating. Your channel is one of the few that actually shows the good and bad of owning a vintage trawler. I really like your "how to" videos of boat maintenance. I have started looking for a vintage trawler and your channel has educated me on the process of finding the right boat.

We just bought a 1967 trawler from a family that we know. Didn't have those legal hassles you mentioned. I guess we were lucky in that regard. But, since she was sitting unused for 6 years, we have a lot of work ahead of us.

a good thing to know....Lehman diesel manual says it goes 10,000 hours before any rebuild is needed,........it can run many more hours than that but that's what they recomend so don't be scared if you see Lehmans diesels with a few thousand hours it's not a big deal

How do I go about insuring a 1974 GB32? I owned a 22’ sailboat and I haven’t owned a boat in over 20 years.

Another great video, and I was almost positive the new boat you were talking about was a dinghy. I would really like to know what you think about the differences between fiberglass, steel, and aluminum trawlers under $100,000?

Yep. I know all about that Paperwork all too well. I bought a simple 12 foot aluminum boat with a trailer for $1000 with a promise that he would provide the paperwork which never came. So to solve that problem I sold the boat in Mexico with no paperwork for pesos

Hey Paul, I sent you a question a while back on one of your older videos but you may not have seen it yet. I have a Lien Hwa 50 foot trawler that has three levels. I was curious what category does it fall under. On one of your older videos you’re talking about the three different designs but my boat didn’t fall under any of those designs. Thanks for the response in advance.

If I am paying a marine surveyor, why should I pay a "consultant"?
@NoRegretsLifestyle3 жыл бұрын
Lots of reasons actually. 1) see if the boat even worth paying for a surveyor 2) Some People have jobs and businesses and can’t take the time 3) I personally have saved most people way more then I have ever been Paid LOL If you have bought lots of boats you probably would not have any problems but if your a first time buyer you may consider a Broker or someone to help you. The survey is not the only thing you pay for when buying a boat. You also have to pay The documentation company also engine surveyor boatyard fees. Or don’t do any of it and just take a chance and see what happens LOL
@rodneyjaynes24853 жыл бұрын
@@NoRegretsLifestyle So what does a broker do? I'm beginning to think that people are making jobs up just to get someone else' hard earned money. There are no one stop brokers out there? If it wasn't for your nasty comment and laugh at the end, I might have been satisfied with your answer.
@raymthemaker82153 жыл бұрын
@@rodneyjaynes2485 A marine surveyor has only one real purpose and that is to report on the condition of the vessel. If it's a skilled surveyor they may also tell you if the vessel is suitable for your projected use in the waters and conditions you plan to operate the boat. Infact when you purchase a boat you need to consider its 1) provenance, 2) document status, 3) insurability ( both liability and operability), 4) affordability, 5) repair-ability, 6) maintainability, 7) upgrade-ability as well as its present condition. A marine surveyor who's good can help with items 4, 5, 6 & 7. They may help with 3 if they have good contacts with insurance brokers of the type you need but that is all. The first 4 items is not really their purview. If you have no experience with purchasing larger boats its best to get yourself someone with the experience to provide some oversite and NOT depend on the boat/yacht broker to do it all correctly for you. If you purchase a large house would you depend on just one person to insure you not being taken for a ride? boats of any size are the same.
