It's the olds for me. The Martin is a great handmade piece but the bright sound doesn't always work for me on those smokey jazz tunes. The warmth of the Olds Recorder is so warm comparitively

The Martins vary quite a bit from horn to horn. I have a Bach 37 (early 80's), Martin Committee Deluxe('52) and an Olds Super Recording('47) My Martin has the "smokiest" sound in my opinion but doesn't blend well in a symphonic band but great for jazz and solos. (had tried a std Committee but didn't like it but have heard great things about them may have had one of the poorer ones). The one on this video did seem bright. Olds has a good tone and core and slots incredibly well, Bach is a great all around horn with a nice tone and blends the best for symphonic bands.

You can’t beat a Mt Vernon Bach! The 50th Anniversary is built similar

Strange bach gad the softer lower bass of them all . And martin was bright with some harash .. olds was ok on mid low range only
