Wonderful to see and hear you with these Olds. I started out with the Olds Ambassador in about 1949. Now have also a Recording, also Super, Ambassador, and Mendez cornets. Surprisingly the Ambassador cornet has been my favorite to play. But,alas those days are over now. I will pass these on to grandsons. Olds is just wonderful.

My wife bought me a surprise gift from a pawn shop. It was an Olds super trumpet in great shape (1959)😊😊😊. She didn't know what she was getting for $120.00 and was afraid i wouldn't like it.

Thanks for this video-- very interesting. I have a 56 recording, and a 63 super-- I mostly end up playing the super, as it works better for me for lead work. The recording is more comfortable on my hands, but more tiring to play up high all night. Maybe one of these days you could do a similar video comparing the olds super and the benge 3x (or one of your burbank equivalents)...

Hi Mr. Dillard. I enjoy watching your trumpet videos specifically the Benge and olds videos. You are very fortunate to have access to wonderful trumpets, i look forward to more videos

You should of used an LA Olds Super so that the bracing and tuning slide brace would have been the same as the ones on the Olds Super Recording. The Fullerton ones are a bit different.

Wonderful Olds trumpets! Hey Steve I’ve got a question on Olds bore sizes. I’ve got an Olds from the 30s. Mine is stamped LLM. It measures .468 at second valve slide. But interestingly it measures .453 at first and third valve slide. Is it typical to have different sizes in the slides?

That was a treat

The old recording seemed warmer but still with more sass

I'm really interested in getting a super recording. but how do they play? i just don't want to spend a lot of money on a horn thats ok but not great. I'm currently playing on a bach Stradivarius37 bell. how do super recordings compare to a strad?

The super sounded the brightest and the recording the most warm with the super recording between. I Have a super with a few dents and the lacquer gone. Still it's what I started on. . .
