Hey, the Swept Away Inn! I stayed here 3 or 4 years ago. In the exact same room too! Room 35! Great place to stay, we had a wonderful experience with the hosts, very friendly and outgoing, and were rocked to sleep in those bunk beds. Really unique place and reasonably priced. I highly recommend!

I was thinking about what's going on with DownieLive. Last I saw was the shelter in place videos, yeah that long ago. Good on ya for giving Mom and Pop Downie the 40th anniversary gift of staying on the tug. The company I work for has some 60’s-70’s era tugboats sitting idle, including one I spent the night in. I’ve thought this would be a great idea, but the cost of maintenance/upkeep is amazing, plus these are smaller than what you stayed in and probably less accessible. Glad someone is doing it!

That old steamer looks like it was part of the fleet of sight seeing boats that ran on Lake Minnetonka, in the early 1900's. Minnetonka is about 25 miles west-southwest of Minneapolis. i don't know why, but they sunk the whole fleet. the boat "Minnehaha' was salvaged & restored & now once again cruises Lake Minnetonka.

Well Mike, you've excelled again with this clip on M.V. Songhee at Port Alberni. Chuckled at your comment on the loo with a view. Had a hearty laugh at your Blinkist book of choice as it's tax time downunder. The whole ambience of the location and the hospitality is great. I must put it on the bucket list for my next visit to Canada. You certainly didn't starve - breakfast I will have to imitate down here. Now how many takes did it take for your drone shot of Riley staggering out on deck with his coffee? Your riding sequence to the Alpaca Farm makes me wish things weren't as bad down here as they are. You have probably heard that Melbourne and the region immediately north is in lockdown again as the second wave of COVID has landed. I'm safe, my friends are safe, so here's hoping that on August 20 we are set free again. Stay safe yourself. Oh, and hi to Dylan in the UK whose travel clips on rail I also follow. Looking forward to next week's posting with the Alpacas. Cheers for now from Michael downunder.

Great video...thanks for sharing and for respecting your host's preference to remain off camera. Recommend adding nautical terminology: Cabin, not room Portlight if it doesn't open, porthole if it does. Going ashore as opposed to getting off the boat. Above or above decks / below or below decks as opposed to upstairs and downstairs The terminology makes it more of an adventure!

Downie if you ever make down to the us ride UP 844 or up bigboy 4014, you should also check out miluwaukee road no.261 nicknamed the high iron and also nickelplate road no.765. Truly gorgeous behemoths. Quick note UP 844 is the longest serving steam locomotive in America, she’s been active since 1944 and bigboy 4014 just got out of her rebuild last year and takes back her name as the heaviest steam locomotive ever built that’s including her tender. Bigboy 4014 with her tender added weighs in at 1,250,000 lbs !! I know I’m ranting at this point but you want to truly see a beautiful steam locomotive, look up the 2666 Allegheny steam locomotive, they where ordered by the C&O railway, only 2 examples exist today.
