When I was a two year old D.J. this was one of my favorites to play for our family and guests. Mom and Dad sang it when we rode in the car, they danced to it in the living room...what wonderful memories... Wouldn't the world be a sweeter place if everyone listened to this classic? I know it would.

My dad said to me when I kept playing this song by The Three Degrees way back in the late 1990s. love that song. Why do you love that song so much? I said I have no idea but it just breaks my heart.I was 18yrs old. He told me that was his and my mums song many years back before The three Degrees ever recorded it by someone I had never heard of. They danced in the London clubs after WW2 . I wasn’t born until 1964. My only version of this song was the Three Degrees from their album Gold in the,1980s. Now I know it’s an older song but then all I had was their version and my dad coming and listening to it on my crappy record player back in my bedroom in the 1980s! He was a star. Love you dad and this will be our song for you, your sisters, your wife and me your daughter xxxx

Nat King Cole recorded the very best version (IMHO) of this song, arguably the best song of it's kind ever written. Billy Ward and The Dominoes also did a great but different version.

I can't listen without getting all teary-eyed. :-) I am so thankful for musicians and singers who keep the great music of the 20th century alive. If it weren't for jazz, I'm not sure how long this music would last. Thankfully, we have jazz departments in universities!

Yeah, I was born three years after you and love this great music! My mom taught me some of the early music of the last century starting when I was about five years old, so, when I grew up, guess what I did! I became a singer and got to sing some of these songs myself!

Apart from an almost better-than-the-original rendition, there is special genius behind the AUDIO. I'm a low tech senior listening from a $70 Wal-Mart tablet. Ran a wire over to my 1980 sound system. What has just come thru the speakers, leaves me awestruck and teary eyed. When the soloist came on with the first lyrics, it was like hearing them clearly through new ears. Mellow, but not blurry. My vocabulary isn't enough to describe this or convey the gratitude I'm feeling. But, am hooked and am subscribing without hesitation. Best wishes to the ensemble.

To appreciate this music it is helpful to learn about what happening when this song was written. Stardust" is a 1927 song composed by Hoagy Carmichael, with lyrics later added by Mitchell Parish. It has been recorded as an instrumental or vocal track over 1,500 times. Carmichael developed a taste for jazz while attending Indiana University. He formed his own band and played at local events in Indiana and Ohio. Following his graduation, Carmichael moved to Florida to work for a law firm. He left the law sector and returned to Indiana, after learning of the success of one of his compositions. In 1927, after leaving a local university hangout, Carmichael started to whistle a tune that he later developed further. When composing the song, he was inspired by the end of one of his love affairs, and on the suggestion of a university classmate, he decided on its title. The same year, Carmichael recorded an instrumental version of the song for Gennett Records. Wikipedia

Greatest popular song of the twentieth century IMO and not easy to bring off successfully. This arrangement reminds me of the earliest recording of it by the young Frank Sinatra ith vocal quartet backing.
