Willie Nelson kills on these old standards because he has such a lovely and fine light touch. There's a delicacy to his playing, his voice, everything about him that just enhances these songs so well. A great version from one of my favorite albums of all time.

It's not just the pot. Willie is a decent, down to earth guy. He respects people, and can appreciate when someone can support him like that, helping him to sound his best. Willie is reportedly *not* an easy guy to follow, musically, when playing with him. As some musicians have said, he has "jazz phrasing" and is so fluid around the beat, that you have to flow with him to find your place in the music.

I'm not Willie Nelson hater. Among the things I found sorting through my parents' effects was the 8-track of this album. I remember listening to it in the front passenger seat with Dad as he drove the RV across the countryside. Even as a little kid I knew this song was something special. I'm grateful for the memory.
