I love your tip for starting halfway down. Now I see how the satin-covered pillow rollers could work. I'd never be able to get them to stay if I started at my ends. I just ordered a pack of cotton-covered pillow rollers and setting lotion for my very fine, very thin hair. (I only have as much hair on my whole head as you had in your bottom back ponytail.) I used to follow the Danela Turudich hairstyle book and do the pin curls. I always felt awesome, but when I look at the pictures now, the styles made me look 40 years old when I was only in my 20s. These will give a softer, younger style.

Thank you so much for this tutorial! I got my pillow rollers about a month ago and hadn't worked out how to secure the ends like you do, so my set was going quite weird. Oh and if you're in Melbourne, Australia I highly recommend Turnley's Hair Barber and Beauty supplies for vintage hair stuff. Sadly they don't have sponge or pillow rollers. 😞But they do have all sorts of brushes, pincurl clips, wave clips, duckbill clips and pomade. 😊

Great tutorial! I'm going to practice this hairstyle, but I have a few questions first. How wet are you spraying the hair sections? You put a great emphasis on alternating the U sections, but couldn't hear why. And does it matter which way they start, just as long as they alternate? How long did it take you to set your hair? How long to brush out? Where did you get the satin mushroom hat? About how many pillow curlers did you use? Thank you in advance.

It depends on how much time I have. If I’m in a hurry, I can usually brush my curls out in 15 min, but I can spend up to a half hour if I have the time. 🙂
