100% agree, shouldve toured Aus in 1994, and easily couldve played until 2000.

This man was a target practise for all fast bowlers of that era. Sad but true.. !!

They don't make them like him anymore. The amount of times he stood up and took whatever the windies quicks threw at him and gave it right back. Tough man on the field, one of the nicest men you could ever wish to meet off of it. Still disgusted by the way he was dumped from the England team back in 96. Still had another 3/4 yrs left at the top level.

Those were fibre glass jaw protectors and first surfaced during WSC. They were very popular and some of the folks who used them included Geoff Boycott, Mike Brearley, Richard Hadlee, Graham Yallop, John Dyson, Rod Marsh, Colin Croft, Imran Khan, Majid Khan etc. I remember reading an article in the 1978 annual issue of the Cricketer (Pakistan) called 'The helmets are coming' and this form of the helmet was endorsed because apart from protection, it allowed players to retain the original WSC cap.

a brave class player who committed on the front foot before judging the length a bit early as part of his trigger movement (technical glitche- massive front foot stride causing him being caught on crease when the ball pitched back).but never the less he was still a class player when he got going....gr8 to watch him bat though...
