Spent 12 years in the military! Wool is the way to go for warmth and utilitarian uses!

I have a heavy US Army hospital blanket marked 1943. It's very heavy, has maroon or redish stripes like yours I if I'm seeing yours right. Mine is 100% wool. Seems WWII &Korean War Era hospital blankets were heavier and 100% wool. Personally I'd go with a similar type of cloth for patches so if you have dissimilar shrinkage it wouldn't rip bigger holes in the blanket. I think if you google us navy wool blanket that you will find yours.

+OKBushcraft Mine has blue strips and lettering, pretty heavy. Don't know what I'll put over the holes yet. WWII and Korean War sound about right for this blanket. Cool little blanket for free. Thanks for watching.

Score! Sew it up and use it. If its military or like most wool blankets, they are probably 80% wool and 20% polyester. I had a lot of vintage US Army wool blankets at one time long ago that were in my dad's footlocker. Unfortunately the moths had their way with them in the locker. Total write off. Guess my dad should have moth balled them. Like Dave I got one from Harbor Freight for $10. Same 80/20 blend. Cheap but good. Its good insulation inside my US GI bivy sack. Thanks for sharing.

+RB M $10 sounds good if it works. I need a newer bivy, would be cool if I could find one like I did this blanket. Lol. Thanks for watching.

It works. www.harborfreight.com/60-inch-x-80-inch-wool-blanket-92625.html I got my bivy from Military Spec Surplus, Mars Hill, NC. for $35. $40.66 with shipping. Michael Dubroff has an ebay listing below but I did not see any bivy on his ebay store. I am sure he has a contact listing there somewhere. I got my bivy direct from him, not his ebay store. stores.ebay.com/militaryspecsurplus

Nice! I bought my elcheapo from harbor freight. It's not 100% wool. I like it a lot though. Thanks!

+David West I got lucky on this one, I was just shopping around for a good wool blanket a few days before I found this. Don't know if its 100% or not but, I did light some of the fibers and it smelled like burnt hair, good sign. Thanks.
