Well it’s definitely been an interesting week for box fans. Last weekend picked up two and this weekend picked up two. What we have here today is a Lasko made (branded Sears most likely) box fan 20 inches with three speeds and thermostat. This is the sought after yellow blade version. There’re other versions of this fan where the blades are a dark brown and the case is more of a tan color. This is the version that has the yellow case in the yellow blades in the yellow grates. The fan was found in the garage of a local cabinetmaker who had it literally nailed to the wall and screwed into a shelf. The guy running the estate sale had to help me pry off of the wall. Fortunately despite that the case is not that badly damaged. I brought the fan home attached to a board and had to remove that in order to store the fan. This fan has the plastic motor, which is very stiff - but not stuck. So there’s hope.
The cord is okay but is as dirty as the rest of the fan. If you have any ideas about how to clean all the stuff off of the grates and the blades let me know. The metal box itself is not very rusty, as I had hoped. I don’t plan to attempt to run this until the motor has been dealt with and all of the dust is out of it. I don’t really think this fan has run in many years. Cheers and thanks for watching.
