My most revered musician being Ustad AMIR KHAN SAHIB, I would like to add that the controversy of this Raga gets magnified when one listens to all the renderings by different virtuoso! I happen to have heard the rendering of Dr. Pandit ASKARAN SHARMA in a live AIR concert in this raga and for the last 50 years it still HAUNTS me!!! That was such a subtle piece that dragged me to Hindusthani Classical and later to Carnatic Music also. I still believe that the two separate renderings of this piece and Sri Sharma's one would seem to be altogether different Raga for any uninitiated person but still they are WONDERFUL in their own rights!! The "CHALAN", "BARHAT" etc. differs in so very delicate way that none, as an ordinary person, can decipher that! So, instead, just busk on the MUSIC.....

with all due respects to Pt Ravishankar, NatBhairav cannot be his creation.He would have had to create it in the 60-s latest, if Ustaad Amir Khaan sahib inspired by Ravi Ji, in the late 60s ! No, the jod raagas of Nat after Shuddha Nat are all creations of the great Bade Ustaadji baba Alladiya Khan Saheb- God rest his soul. All Jaipurwallahs sing these Jod- Nats with the traditional prowess of their Gharana. Hear Mansur Ji, Kishori ji, for instance, apart from Kesarbai sahib and Mogubai sahib. First Ustaadji Amirkhan sahib and then Pandit Dr Vasantrao Deshpande sahib sung it so very marvelously, after their originality as well as their gift of learning from elsewhere, and then developing from there. Indian music is indebted to Bade Ustaadji for other amazing Jod Raagas he created.. Basant Kedar, Yamani Bilawal ( apart from various other Bilawal variations ), NandKedar, Hem Kalyan, Jayat Kalyan, Jaita Shree.....

Natbhairav is the creation of Pt Chidanand Nagarkar of Agra Gharana ,a disciple of Pt SN Ratanjankar....it is originally called Bhairavnaat....pt Ravishankarji made it popular

Raviji has recorded another raag he claims to have created called Nada "Bhairavi" same swaras as Asavari Thaat .... it's confusing to me what might have been his creations vs those of his Guruji Baba.

@@sumanniv my uncle was pt. Samaresh Chawdhury a shishya of Panditji. What you are listening is South Indian rag Sarasangi. Let me tell you the difference. All the notes are same except in aroha the rishav is weak. Please listen to his sitar recital of rag Nat bhairav. Panditji did a press conference to clear the confusion.

@@sumanniv in addition Mewati gharana was originated from the Jaipur and they also sing these. But Raag nat narayani is sung only by them.

No. Nat Bhairon is not a creation of Pt. Ravishankar. It's an old traditional melody. If anybody wishes to enjoy this Raga best is to listen to Ustad Yunus Hussain Khan Darpan of thw famous Agra Gharana. Its on KZbin itself.
