@DATING HARLEY QUINN In the U.S., it's definitely a mixed bag: depending on where you live, some are dressed particularly well - others, not so much. I wish I could experience what you've described.

@DATING HARLEY QUINN Amazing to consider it's changed in only 12 years. Then again, I think I've noticed that happening here as well: lots of athleisure, as it's called.

Fun facts about the Spanish cape: in the late 1700s there was a call in Madrid so the soldiers would cut citizens long capes into shorter more french style, as long capes and big hats were considered sketchy because you could hide your identity and weapons. Men from Madrid started a huge riot against it called Motin de Esquilache. Long capes like the one in the video can be seen in many Goya paintings, who lived in Madrid during that time and made stamps similar to a war reporter (“Disasters of the war”). You can get an idea about why they were considered sketchy with the painting “majas en el balcón” (girls in the balcony) where two women smile while two creepy men (their pimps) cover their faces behind them. You can also see lots of capes in the movie “Alatriste”, with Vigo Mortensen. You can also see these capes nowadays worn by “Tunos” or “la tuna” (university students who serenade with lutes) decorated with ribbons. Traditionally, Ramon García, who used to host New Year’s Eve on public tv in Spain would wear that cloak every year.

Frederick, I have heard you refer repeatedly to yourself as lazy. You have a two children, a partner, a home, a full time job, and you put this amazing channel together. You do research, you make videos on sewing (no easy feat), you travel, and you are a musician. Perhaps in your childhood someone told you, you were lazy -- as most children are -- but in adulthood, I would suggest, you are hard working and very driven. I love your channel, the kindness you show to your subscribers and those whose outfits you review, and you sense of style. I like that you protect the privacy of young contributors and your children. Thank you for sharing your experience at Pitti Uomo and encouraging men to dress well and take pride in how they look. Nothing wrong with a well appointed man dressed in tailored fashion with a bit of flair.

"Your coat looks bulletproof!" 😂 👍 I really like the outfits and the thoughts of the people why they chose that style. Remarkable the statement of the gentleman who said "It has to be wearable on a daily basis." So you can see to him it's not just a costume - it is his style. And that's real coolness, folks!

I love seeing men dressed so handsomely, so thoughtfully. A couple of them could use a wee slap for their attitudes, (Mr. Phantom Thread with his exquisite lady model from LA for example) but aside from that it is really such a welcome sight. Though it’s a bit better now, we do teach men in America to scoff at this; what a pity.

Yes! Same I was charmed by the outfits. But I despised the French guy attitude, the way he talks is rude and pretentious, and the way he interact/present his partner left me with a sense of unease. And that man implying that men wearing unisex fashion are not real men is adding a bit of disgraceful vintage values to his vintage style.
@ValeriePallaoro2 жыл бұрын
@@florabanks2442 I think more you can take from his words, why is unisex fashion so one way; why is it from male to female, and from that, where is the unisex fashion that says men can wear feminine clothes (though icons like Harry Styles are doing their very best to make it more equal) It certainly piqued my curiosity
@ValeriePallaoro2 жыл бұрын
Agreed on the words he used. Nobody has pointed it out to him that his words are 1920s, earlier even, when black models and dancers were caracterised by their colour like it was exotic (and it ended up being perjoritiive) I thought I saw her 'start' at his usage of the term, but maybe that's just me. And he pointed to her, like she was a dummy. Very sad, I would have liked to have seen more of that hand bag too. v. creepy gentleman

What a bouquet of handsome, well put together gentlemen. I love when men wear classic men's wear (and no, Justus, it doesn't count if you nick your granddad's corduroy suit out of his closet and wear his old 1970s Adidas trainers with it!! That is not style but sloppiness/laziness and definitely not fashionable). Thank you for sharing, Nicholas.
