What a great time to be around drag_______racing ! For me I was hooked coming home from the beach ( N.H seacoast ) we'd pass by New England Dragway ( Epping N.H ) Just as the race cars were heading home.... & for me seeing all of those wicked rides on trailers with big tires,scoops and cool paint jobs just like the cars in National Dragster , Hotrod magazine & the models I was building ( or trying to build ☺ ) 9 Don't forget that back in the day everything was on a open trailer or ramp truck no enclosed rigs back then so I could see every sweet pro stock , funny car or dragsters going past & dreaming of seeing them run when I older 😉

Great stories and funny stuff ! I had an Isky 505 camshaft, way back in the day. That 327 was pretty fast but camshaft engineering was far above my pay grade in those days. (still is). Thanks Bill.

Hang in there, Martin! #25 will "probably" be the half way episode. So we're at the eighth mile, a whole lot can happen from this point on. So far I don't think we're "nose'n over", but guys like you are my feeler guage. I don't know, I may have to "lean 'er out" as we get closer to the end. Help!!! ;)

As usual, another great and informative video. I'm always anxious for Thursday evening to come around. Man do I miss those good old days of real dragsters and drag racers who were there more for the love of the sport than the corporate money; which in my view is what ruined drag racing!

Bill: Another great episode Sir. I loved Car Toons and we got them in magazines clear over in NJ. I remember a lot of us guys in school learning to draw dragsters from them. Then, we would get creative and add, like another blower in a side by side arrangement...and then we would all argue about if that would work or not, ha ha. Then, another guy would come up with something else outrageous and so on and so on. Like everyone else, I look forward to next Thursday. Bill

I remember loving the looks of that Rod Stuckey framed "ChiZler V" that Karamesines built at 5:35 of the video. ( looks best without the nose-piece imo ). I thought it was the model of perfection in it's early '60s day.

Bill your music, pictures, info, talk, and laughter are so much a part of what it was like. One guy in Indy is totally enjoying this and can't thank you enough.

Hi Mike. We are so glad you are enjoying this. I can't put into words how blessed we all feel to be able to deliver this story to interested folks around the world. Just like runners in a relay race, we all carry something that's a part of the drag racing story. And we're all hoping to "pass the baton" to the next person, before we drop. You, and the other viewers are carriers of the baton as well. Pass it on, Mike. Pay it forward. That's all we ask. Bill

It's all great, but I am particularly taken by the music. It adds an ominous quality, like momentous events are yet to come. Where did the music come from?
@vintagedragsters8 жыл бұрын
Hi Tony. You're feeling about the music is correct. I sum up this story in two words: It builds. So I went after music that did the same...had an ominous, building quality about it. I was watching a Denzel Washington movie: "Inside Man" There was an ominous tone to the music throughout the movie. It built. It was clear and distinct. Crafty. Like the Surfers. ;) Terence Blanchard is the composer. Hope that answers your question. Bill

Remembering Car Toons. My favorit was when the back page had the Hot Rod awards and the guy that won for pinstriping had 5786 mile of pinstipe on a 49 Merc, no stipe was wider than .093" and no stripe was seperated by more than .0007" (critics say he only succeded in painting a black car white with a very small brush.). I never will forget those days. Thanks Bill.....

On my second day binging on this wicked series. How about music from the era?I was born in 65 and only read about these guy's and events in mags (wishing for a time machine).Definitely the best era for drag racing, thanks for doing this. A fan from UK.

I thought that Karamesines 5th car with the Rod Stuckey frame was my idea of perfect rail aesthetics and I was a fan before he ever came to Amarillo Dragway. When he came there it was in his next car, a Kent Fuller framed one and he was first to break 200 there in match racing Bobby Langley who, not to be outdone, was tipping the can at 98% and also making the 200 mph club. Both backed those up, Langley once more and Karamesines twice more if I remember correctly (questionable sometimes).

@vintagedragsters8 жыл бұрын
Hi Bill I totally agree! Time isn't on our side, is it?! Those who are involved with this series would like it all to be done yesterday. Most of all, me. But since this is an amateur production. No money made. No budget for it in the first place, other than out-of-pocket. Then leaving room for "life" to hit at any time (family emergencies, etc.)--which does--for any and all of us. Then "fact check" each and every episode, with a group of REAL players from those days. Not just leaving it to a fan, such as myself. It just takes time. Please be patient, and know that we are working to give interested viewers--both now and in the future-- the ability to refer to this series and get the straight scoop on what happened with this one individual team. And we are hoping that maybe--just maybe--a real documentarian, or perhaps even a Hollywood type might see the benefit of doing a better job with it all. But at least they'll have something to work with that is everything we can gather up, about this one particular mid-60's top fuel team. Sincerely, Bill Pitts
