Begum Akhtar's name itself brings back the golden era of Urdu or Hindi Ghazals. Ghazals are a genre of Hindi poetry primarily couplets sung in a melody that turns the poetry into a melodious Hindi Song. Ghazals were primarily a courtesan's genre. Begum Akhtar was one of the first lady Ghazal singer from India who popularized this cherished music form of the maharajahs out of the courtrooms among the masses. Akhtari Bai Faizabadi, also known as Begum Akhtar was given the title of Mallika-e-Ghazal (Queen of Ghazals). She cut her first disc for the Megaphone Record Company. A number of gramophone records were released carrying her ghazals, dadras, thumris, etc. She was among the early female singers to give public concert, and break away from singing in mehfils or private gatherings. Her supreme artistry in light classical music had its moorings in the tradition of pure classicism. She chose her repertoire in primarily classical modes: a variety of raags, ranging from simple to complex. Begum Akhtar's good looks made her a classic choice for the film industry. Begum Akhtar acted in a few Hindi movies in the 1930s. East India Film Company of Calcutta approached her to act in "King for a Day" (alias Ek Din Ka Badshah) and Nal Damayanti in 1933. Her voice matured with time, adding richness and depth. She sang ghazals and other light classical pieces, singing them in her inimitable style. She has nearly four hundred songs to her credit. She was a regular performer on All India Radio. She usually composed her own ghazals and most of her compositions were raag based. She sang the timeless Bengali classical song "Jochona Koreche Aari". Begum Akhtar or Akhtari Bai as some fondly remembers her is a true legend in the world of Ghazals.
This compilation album "Jhuthe Jaag Ki Joothi Preet By Begum Akhtar" is a collection of some of the best Ghazals sung and composed by Begum Akhtar herself. Late Madam Begum Akhtar is a voice of heart-felt reality who is repellent of the gap between and reality and amusement. complains with joy and broken heart. I cannot seize praising her. She was loved voice of my father but in my 65 she is reviving my thought as if it were my Mother’s Lourries. May God raise such people in the time of my children era.

Today's Urdu is pigdin language, crude version of Hindi mixed with Arabic words. Have you seen the Urdu signs on government office building in Pakistan? They are English written in Arabic script. For example the expression (الیکشن کمیشن آف پاکستان) It is transliteration (not an actual translation) of Election Commission of Pakistan. Urdu does not even vocabulary for such simple phrase. Pathetic!

Arjit & Sonu are Not Singers, they are copy cats, they don't know abc of classical singing, Their Ustads are Not able to understand the Height of Begum Akhter, She concurd all type of singing.
