A superb machine. Very helpful video, especially regarding caps and brush springs.

Clear and succinct. Nice video. I love these mid-70’s Kenmores. Have 15+. I can now try to check mine. Thanks.

Thank you for this. I didn't know there were two and I really didn't know how to assess the wear on them!

I have a late 70s Kenmore 158-1946 and I’ve never checked the motor brushes! 😳 I clean and lube the machine myself so guess I should check that out. Thanks for showing me how easy it SHOULD be. 😆

Thank you for this video. I have a Kenmore Tri-span 88 that is in desperate need of a new brush. Possibly, a new motor as well.

Hello! I love your channel, I've been watching for a few weeks as I've been trying to restore a frozen Kenmore 148. I am getting a bit hopeless as I've tried heat and penetrants and oil and it didn't seem to work. There's also no evidence of grease anywhere so I'm wondering if there's a needle jam or other type of jam. However, I don't know how to diagnose where the problem is because this is my first sewing machine I've taken apart so I don't know what "normal" looks like. Is there any way I might be able to send you some pictures or videos or if you're anywhere local to the Maryland area I could bring the machine. Thank you in advance!

I learned a bit here! Do all motors have this? I have not gotten into motor info yet.

Just wanted to ask a quick question. I have just purchased a janome new home but there’s no model number on it. It has one single plastic gear in the top section. If that ends up wearing down would it be possible to change it to a metal one or would it have to be replaced with another plastic one? Please help
