My brother and I had a an Atari 2600 but I only remember playing football on it. I played all the games shown here but in the arcade in the early 80's. In those days my brother worked at a locally owned arcade and after they closed we'd stay all night long and play all our favorite console games. Those were the days... we really thought we were somethin' being able to open all the games and play for FREE. Life would later get more complicated but back then it was simple and life seemed like it would last forever.

As someone born in the 2000s, I find it fascinating to see games with simple controls. The concept of creating a game that can be easily played and enjoyed is something that really captures my interest making game as a hobby.
@chinabluewho5 ай бұрын
Hard to describe but the appeal of the Atari was "pick up and play" as long as you didn't make the average game to complicated anyone could come by pick up a controller and use basic common sense to play, it is one of the many reasons the 5200 and 7200 failed to connect the way the 2600 did.

This must be a list of "best selling" games, because these are the standard well known titles. The arcade game Pac-man was awesome, but the 2600 version was disappointing even at the time. If anything Ms. Pac-man for the 2600 was way better. Mario Brothers wasn't big on the 2600, it was only when Super Mario Brothers came out for Nintendo years later that people started saying "oh yea, there was a Mario Brothers game for the 2600." At the time, it was mediocre at best. This is just a lazy list of some of the most well known 2600 games.
