Fleetwood Mac, Carpenters, Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Sex Pistols, their fame is possibly dimmed, but they're not exactly forgotten. Derek & the Dominos was a special case--more of a side-project for Clapton than anything else, and probably wouldn't have lasted long anyway. Badfinger, The Runaways, Joy Division, the Guess Who, Montrose, the Jam--these are remembered by music aficionados and small, dedicated fandoms. Big Star, Wild Cherry, Television, M, the Sweet, Sha Na Na, the Modern Lovers...now _these_ guys are the Forgotten.

The Sweet are not loved, more... adored by their fans, even though three of its members are dead. Their music remains, has influenced other bands and is listened to. They made incredible hits and songs, ranging from glam to hard songs that are still a blast today. I listen to them myself. They live on in the memories of those who lived through those times, big or small, they are not forgotten...what an idiotic list! Eternal love and light for Brian, Mick and Steve...

Nobody forgot THE RUNAWAYS... except the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Bands break up... but the Runaways live through Joan Jett and Lita Ford. They aren't forgotten. Oh, and the RRHOF inducted the GO GOs, a group that had a dixie cup worth of talent compared to the Runaways. The rest of the list on this list was ridiculous. All of those bands were not forgotten. Obiviously this "compiler" never heard of FM radio in the 70's and AOR. That made memories that made these bands UINFORGETTABLE.

I was born after these bands were long gone, but heard of most and am currently exploring many of these groups. It’s my only explanation as I know most people alive during this era will never forget them, but as time goes by, each generation misses out on these groups as they are seldom heard by them.

@thecuttingroomfloor5817 I've no idea from where this click-baity channel guy hails, But he can take with him my resounding THUMBS DOWN. Not only did he not merit a thumbs up just for producing content that's watchable, he's earned a THUMBS DOWN for producing content that's simply fail. I caught the 1960s vid before I got this one (it was even worse). I thought that perhaps he was dragging the lake to come up with those artists, until I saw that this one was just the same. More amazing artists who, for the most part, saturated the air waves in their day, but who are not popular today. I have had many cars in my 40+ years of driving, but only one bumper sticker -- the "Unknown Pleasures" album art. Yes, Joy Division was something, and still is. Their sound was cutting edge then, and timeless now. Also King Crimson - really? I just have to shake my head at that one, too. This video did not claim to be about musical taste or preference, so I can't give the "subjective" pass here. Sweet? Just - what was this guy thinking? (clicks and views, clicks and views). Enough of my rant. In summary, this video and at least one more from this channel belong -- you guessed it -- on the cutting room floor.

Sweet : Little Willy, Fox on the Run, Ballroom Blitz.... Are they really forgotten? I have Little Willy on my computer playlist with 927 songs. Some of these I have never heard of. But the world was absolutely filled with sadness when the Legendary Christine McVie passed on 30 November 2022. What a crappy Christmas season that was. "Songbird" will be a classic forever.

Fleetwood Mac still managed to come together on and off over the decades since the 70s. They only really disbanded with the death of Christine McVie a couple years ago.

I saw King Crimson's final US tour a few years ago. They packed their venues. They were just as incredible as they were initially, and they continue to inspire bands like Tool in recent decades.

The Beatles produced their albums. The Beatles actually thought highly of the band so much that they actually did background vocals for them.

You should rename the title to something like great bands of the past. I really think you’d get a better response from all of us people who love older music and think most of today’s music sucks! Thank you very much your welcome please 👀

I think its a matter of perspective. For every generation there is music that speaks to those growing up and identify with emotional times. Those songs are a path to recalling those emotions and times. However as the next generation comes around the kids growing up often have a new collection of musicians that are popular and mark their moments with their friends and loved ones. Many of these are still remembered and played by those that grew up with them but today's kids will not grow up hearing them on the radio as we did, or watch the first showing on the then new platform MTV. Certainly there is overlap from parents sharing and playing their love for music with their children, but not always.

Peter Green of original Fleetwood mac, one of Pop and Rock's immortals not even mentioned, Johnny Rotten a genius, never to be forgotten, still around to this day, nobody has ever forgotten Karen Carpenter either - as a singer or a drummer, timeless - Television influenced anyone of worth, The Sweet, great live ,very proficient, but a bit naff, Lalay timeless too, The Jam long gone but Paul Weller still around, a great songwriter as himself and when in the group, being both a rock-great and a soul-boy too, he having released several number ones in a row. Analysis is slightly inaccurate. as most are not forgotten at all but have even become iconic.

I HAVE NOT EVEN HEARD OF MANY OF THESE BANDS. THANKS!! THIS IS GREAT. There are some other interesting details that I was unaware of. That Badfinger worked for the BEATLES' Apple was unknown by me. People who knock this video should get used to browsing many sources and not expecting one source video to fill in all of their own personal knowledge of individual favorite details. The author should not bother to take criticism from others he would not necessarily ask advice from.

I'm sorry to say, but if you haven't heard of most of these bands, Then you did not listen to rock or pop in the 70's. You should research some of them on youtube, because I guarantee you that they will be on here. Your'e missing a lot of GOOD music from the 70's. PEACE and LOVE!!

Thanks for your input. We keep in mind that the person who put this together was making the same point and provided a great source of information on the exact subject. We don't need to double up that point, which IS the point of this video.

After their initial break up, King Crimson reformed with adrian belew in the line up and went on to record over ten albums, beginning with Discipline, Beat and "Three of a Perfect Pair". So they didn't disappear at all. Fleetwood Mac recorded several albums after Rumours, and started as a blues-Rock band under the supervision of Peter Green, who retired from recording for an extended period before forming "Peter Green's Splinter Group", releasing Nine albums during the late 1990s though to early 23000s.

More nonsense from someone who probably wasn't there. If the runaways were influential how come they are supposedly forgotten?. Fleetwood Mack, Joy Division, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Carpenters etc forgotten? As for King Crimson, they are still regularly sighted as one of the best prog rock bands of all time. Come on, what planet are you on. I will give you Budgie though, I saw them twice back in the day, every bit as good as some of their peers imo. I guess they just didn't have that killer song to make them a household name.
