​@@Dragonstorm1234 they are in full control of the abilities that's the whole point of the video it's just that they said those as the first ability that came to their mind at the time where as later they decided to change to a better ability. Plus Vinny saying volt absorb was a fake out to catch Frank as shown in the battle when Frank could've killed gyarados but didn't because he thought it had volt absorb, once Frank thought it had volt absorb he wouldn't attack it with electric so Vinny didn't need to actually give it volt absorb

Vinny also was definitely bluffing about volt absorb when he told Frank what his actual ability was. Frank also guessed carbink right and carbink is noticeably slow so it makes sense they handpicked their abilities and altered them from what they said when receiving pokemon.

Actually they are more likely to have their correct abilitys when they guess right as for some pokemon they already have their best option

As a general rule, I think if the pokemon is like a fish or pretty much anything without a pair of feet, you should instead just show them the end of their tail, cuz otherwise you're basically showing them the entire top half of the pokemon I say cuz of what happened with *Arrokuda*
