RIP, it’s funny how life works. I bought the R8 not know it was Ed’s car then googled the vin to find out it had so much history. In the garage I printed out and framed the cartrek photo, it was cool owning something that had some internet clout. It had a stock exhaust and the driver side grill had a hole in it when I got it. Somewhere along the way the scanner was removed. I replaced the grill which was the most frustrating repair I’ve ever done, so many little clips to align. Added CarPlay and got to enjoy the car for a few months before something unexpected forced me to sell it. Thanks for the 5 mins Ed!

In the year 2016 we have a terrible blizzard and my wife decided to go into labor at that time. When we had a C-section scheduled for The morning. 😅 Well I was able to hold her off until the morning, and I started my journey to the hospital. It really looks like an apocalyptic wasteland. And I had to drive around cars, 18 wheelers and even dump trucks and digging equipment that got stuck while trying to deal with it. When we arrive to the hospital we parked next to an R8.... that had obviously also made the drive. I don’t yet know who the doctor was. But I sure hope I meet him someday. Because there aren’t too many people that could have gotten there in those conditions. And let’s face it it must’ve been his only four-wheel-drive vehicle. And The Man used it as a vehicle. 🤝👍🏻 Oh the look in my face must’ve been priceless, as I said they are explaining to my wife just how uncommon of a man he must be. I truly hope I get to meet him or at least somebody like him one day and form a friendship. I have a few bucket list things I hope to do.

Glad those airbags worked! I got a toll road bill once for a car I had sold 5 months earlier. I texted the guy I sold the car to to say he has to register the car in his name. He goes on to tell me he had already traded the car for something else. Luckily I had filed with the state that I sold the car, and did not have to pay the tolls. 2 years later a new owner of that car pulls up to my house, needing me to sign some paperwork. Seems no one ever titled it after I sold it. Had a similar thing happen with another car I had sold. This one wasn’t so clear. The car was sold multiple times, and in different states, but somehow never titled. A shop a few hundred miles away bought it and put a tow lien on it. I got mailed a notice, much like Ed. In this case though, it was the tow yard/garage that was trying to establish legal ownership of the car. I called them and they explained. I had sold the car years before, so I didn’t care. Was just happy that finally someone else would be the listed current owner instead of me!

I'd be willing to bet that he wrecked the car on a track and had it towed to that location in order to file an insurance claim. Looking at the pics in your video, I didn't see any bark or wood splinters embedded in the bodywork where the impacts occurred, and the lack of any evidence of a wreck at that location is pretty telling. If it HAD impacted a tree at that speed, the tree itself would show signs of the impact very clearly.

As someone that obsesses over & studies the engineering side of sports/supercars. Imo the Huracan/2nd gen R8's appear to have one of the safest looking supercar chassis's in its price range. Its an entirely aluminum spaceframe with a 'T' shaped carbon tunnel & firewall. And while carbon monocoque Mclarens would likely do better in a roll-over, mclarens literally just use 2 aluminum beams in the front, with a bumper beam RIVETED onto them. And in every mclaren crash, those rivets sheer off, so only 1 beam absorbs all the energy (if they dont tear-off entirely). On the other hand the r8/huracans have several layers of supports & braces all connected & welded together to better absorb an impact. Google ferrari 458/488, or mclaren chassis & compare to a new r8's if interested in what i mean

OR IF the owner seeks medical treatment for said things, then it will be listed as injury. If neither occupant had received medical assistance, No Injury No Foul. Totaled my 01 Forester, DUI incident, broke my nose. Blood ALL over the drivers side of the car, Listed as "no injury" as I refused medical. Nose didnt need reset so I "walked it off".

On another, a 1984 Ferrari 308 GTSI, the car was sold 3 times, stored for several years, and my signed title was lost. 3rd “owner” wanted me to sign a title over to him, which lawyer advised I not do. Seems a rather open ended process which leaves the seller as legal owner until the buyer retitles.

I once traded in an old Sequoia to a dealer when I bought my wife's new car. About a month later, I got a certified letter that it had been abandoned and was at a tow lot if I wanted to pick it up and pay the fees. If it wasn't 600 miles away from me (I'm in Houston and the tow lot was in west Texas somewhere) I could have headed over there and got my old car back for like $750. I wasn't sure on the law at that time but I later asked a lawyer friend about it and he said its pretty much "Finder's Keeper's" if the new owner and/or insurance never contacts you. They sent me like 3 more letters so I'm pretty sure the new owner would have never claimed it. Oh well.

That is the rub, ,if the real owner never contacts you. Why put yourself in a position where you can get sued, and lose, for a cheap car?

How can the car be sold in the US through different dealerships if he still stays as the owner? Great system you guys have in place. Have you heard of databases? Like the ones where you register the car so you don't have to put stupid stickers on the licence plates.

When I was 16 and a new driver, a friend refused to sell me his Chevy Nova II (I dont remember the year) telling me I would hurt myself driving that car at my age. He sold it to a guy 3 years older than me who wrapped it round a tree three weeks later. 😡😡😡😡

It dosent matter if its just a connector issue, if the airbag light is on they will not deploy in an accident. Almost died because of that in my 2015 mustang when a drunk driver rear ended me at over 100mph. My light was on due to a connector under the seat as well.

Hey Freddy, don't you have a R8 with a boat anchor V8. V10 in your V8 car= 60 or 70 grand for the P1 build. Just a thought.
