Vinyl and DVS Mixing Intro

These videos were made by DJ School UK with support from the Leeds Music Education Partnership specifically to support our CPD delivery for secondary school staff. The videos themselves cannot replace person to person CPD or tuition and we suggest no one tries to learn how to DJ just from these.

This is exactly what I was looking for. Hi there, used to Dj back in HS, but never made it onto digital, so now at 51, guess what, going back and need lots of education. All I have is two 1200’s and a Serato mixer, that’s it, literally. Where can I get more info about DVS, what software ? How to get digital music? All I have is just a few Vinyls. Thanks

Hello, on which mobile App i can us my DVS records please ? I'm on Numark scratch mixer and Technics SL 1200 MK2 I saw on "djay" that was possible but is it the only App ? Thanks ✌️

Hey Marek, I'm not sure about Mobile Apps but f you are using Serato DVS on your scratch mixer you should be able to just record internally in Serato? Otherwise try Audacity or even OBS (which is mainly for streaming) but both of which are free - you will need to check the serato preference to allow audio to be accessed by other software.

Hello, I am learning to DJ and I am trying to set up my equipment: 2 Omnitronic BD-1390 Turntables Black, 1 Gemini Sound PMX-10 2, 1TimeCode control Vinyl, a laptop with Virtual DJ. I use Deezer to stream music in virtual DJ. Will I make it or something isn't matching in my equipment?

Hi Kono. with these kinds of set ups you will need to have a version of virtual DJ that runs DVS. I believe the PMX-10 comes with a DVS friendly version of Virtual LE. From what you've said you're hardware should all work together. Realistically though this question would be better asked on the virtual dj forums where you will get software specific help. I don't like when DJs use the word CHEATING. There are functions set-up to be used by the person performing on the equipment. If that's the case, EVERYONE who's using the word (CHEATING) should still be physically carrying crates on top of crated of vinyl records. NO ONE is doing that so EVERYONE is using some type of INNOVATION of technology. Also, this video has horrible editing.

Good points well made. We said "Cheating" only because we said at the beginning that we were using "real vinyl". We were actually using DVS throughout and did so exactly to make that point. Also if i remember right we didn't do any editing lol. These videos were designed for school staff who had already taken our training course. These videos are not intended to be complete courses on their own. Peace.

@DJ School UK instead of taking the "constructive criticism" you tried to rebuttal my comments. On the editing part, you were talking and moving the jog wheel out of sync with the display on your video. Maybe you should watch it again yourself to understand where I'm coming from. I thought your info was on point but personal opinions and /or other ppls personal opinions should/ could have been left out. Just my opinion. Peace to you as well.

Lol it’s cheating. I use real records. Sync is for unskilled DJs who don’t have the talent to beat match manually.

I bet you were one of those small dudes trying to bully bigger ppl.🤣🤣 Or a big dude with a small 🍆🤣🤣🤣 Either way, i guess that comment makes you feel something of yourself. Remember...Staying in your lane saves lives.

Hey - I'm not sure exactly which scratch you mean but we get our scratch samples from all over. If you search for DJ tools or DJ battle weapons or DJ scratch sounds on google you should find lots of places where you can buy them or often download them for free. Also if you hear a part of a song that has a sound you like - scratch that! Have fun :)

You can make your own. Record clips on your software and use it to scratch.
