Very cool collection. Nervosa and Crypta are from Brazil. Before, Fernanda was from Nervosa, but she left and formed Crypta together with Luana who was Nervosa's drummer. Now they are two great metal bands.

Oldest all-female metal band which I know is Vixen. I have their debut album "Vixen" on vinyl. Wikipedia says they play glam metal/hard rock. In the nineties women in metal bands were usually singers. Tarja Turunen is my favourite female singer from that era. All Nightwish albums are awesome. Tarja Turunen, Sharon den Adel and Liv Kristine Espenæs... Legends... Many good metal band have female singer, especially in symphonic metal genre (Floor, Simone... and so on). And for example My Dying Bride have female bassist (Lena Abé). Speaking of all-female metal bands Crypta, Asagraum and Nervosa are my favourites. I guess it's not wrong to add Sisters of Suffocation to this list...

My favorite metal genre is black metal so most of them will be female fronted black metal bands. I know you are not entirely into black metal but if sometime you have the time and curiosity to listen to them, then do it. 1. Asagraum (black metal) 2. Melan selas (black metal) 3. Ieschure (black metal) 4. Draconian (doom metal) 5. Grai (folk metal) 6. Okkultist (death/black metal) 7. Project renegade (progressive metal) These are some of my favorites...

Arch Enemy is one female fronted band that quickly comes to mind. GWAR has had a female member for many years. The original one was named Slymenstra Hymen and the current version of the band has a girl called Vulvatron. Neither plays a instrument. Mainly does other things on stage while the band plays. I still feel it counts though. There's a band called Jinger with a female singer. And of course there's Lacuna Coil with Christina Scabbia on vocals.

Hey Emmelie, I was super surprised to see Bikini Kill in your vid! These r sum of my favorite bands that have at least one female member. The genres range from punk, garage, no wave, to funk: Aunt Sally, Noh Mercy, The Bags (old LA punk with Alice Bag), Nipple Erectors, DNA, ESG, Destroy All Monsters, OOIOO, Diva Dompe, Trash Kit, Romantic Gorilla, Bonde Do Noisecore, Midnite Snaxxx, Dead Machines (John & Tovah Olson), Messer Chups.

CODE ORANGE - "Underneath" (Bassist Reba Meyers) 4. VENOM PRISON - "Samsara", "Erebos" (fronted by Larissa Stupar) 5. SPOIL ENGINE - "Stormsleeper" (fronted by Iris Goessens) 6. JINJER - "Wallflowers" 7. DYING WISH - "Fragments Of A Bitter Memory" (fronted by Emma Boster. I also saw this band recently in Vancouver, where they opened for Vended, Loathe, and Code Orange)

I recently discovered the album No Dawn for Men by Feminazgûl, an all female feminist black metal band. The vocalist is really great. The lyrics, besides being feminist are heavily Tolkien infused and so this whole project also comes across as ultra nerdy. I love it😃

Yeah, if you're looking for a recommendation, Abnormality had an amazing female vocalist throughout their run. Probably my favorite song is Visions: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nofSpGCvfdKWndU Luana is now my favorite drummer - give that Crypta album a real close listen, it's unbelievably good. Mio Jäger from Frantic Amber is a very talented guitarist. Also the current vocalist/former drummer of Immortal Bird is female, and the band has a pretty interesting sound.

I’m not sure what your opinion is on power metal, but on the topic of metal bands with badass women in them, I’d like to recommend Unleash the Archers. They’re a Canadian power metal band formed in 2007. Brittney Slayes does amazing clean vocals while their male guitarist does the harsh vocals.
