Just wanted to let you know that I think this is a fantastic channel, you are a great presenter. A real wealth of knowledge across many genres. Much appreciated. I particularly enjoyed this Soul list. Went straight out and found Roberta Flack and The Isley Bros albums at the second hand store.

Average White Band's debut LP was called Show Your Hand. The one you show is their second. Dynaflex was developed by RCA Victor during the oil crisis in the 1970s as a way of pressing records using only virgin vinyl.

I just came across your channel and subscribed immediately when I saw this video title and the one called ''How To Buy Classic Prince'' LOL. Even though I have most of these records, it was very informative. Thanks for sharing :-)

Hi .. thanks for making this video for someone like myself who likes funk/soul this confirms most of what I knew . You have far more of a detailed knowledge, than me though . I’ve always loved ewaf and chic and strawberry 23 is one of my all time favourites I bought it when it was released in around 77 I think .. thanks again best wishes rob

Some great classic in there my friend! I just spent the last couple of days making a 60/70s Reel to Reel mix tape. Pulled out so much classic stuff including some of the things you mentioned here :)

A belter of a video! I was pleased you included AWB, amazing band. I really like the record they did with Ben E. King though it was a bit on the slick side. Their bass player went on to be in McCartney's band in the late 80's/early 90's. I totally agree about Dynaflex albums - I've got 2 copies of Aladdin Sane, a 'normal' one and a DF one - the DF one sounds miles better. Along with the Chic albums proper, I'd include the Sheila B Devotion album, which has some incredible guitar playing and songs on it. Spacer is my favourite disco song ever. What I love most about P-Funk records is the way they go to elaborate lengths to make it sound as if the music is just 'happening' in the studio while there's a party going on. They're as elaborately contrived as mid period Queen in their way. Cheers, James

Thanks James. Agree with your description of precisely what makes P Funk tick.

I picked up the B Withers and Isaac Hayes $1 each at charity shop, great stuff! So Isley Bros gave Jimi H his first stratocaster when he played w them. Ever heard of Baby Huey? Check him out. Great vid, thx.

Heard a lot about Baby Huey but don't own any yet. I need to check him out.

Sorry, I'm returning for a second comment. I'd have included Curtis Mayfield and Barry White. I keep picking up Barry's albums at the moment - most of them are £1 in charity shops.

Great video!... nice to see that Dramatics lp, I managed to get a copy recently... it's a real beauty. Great to see Innervisions as well... I haven't listed to that record enough recently. I think I'd have to add a bit of Curtis and Al Green, but a great selection nonetheless.
@spinningtheblackcircle85545 жыл бұрын
You could not be more right: the only reason Curtis and Al don't feature is because I haven't got round to buying them on vinyl yet. It's shameful that I don't have Al Green's Greatest Hits on wax. Similarly Superfly and Curtis.
