What a great haul. Life’s Rich Pageant has always been my favourite REM album, though their run from the first album through to Automatic For the People doesn’t include a. duff album. The first Spirit album is great but Sardonicus that you mentioned is one of my very favourites. You’ve reminded me of Bruce Cockburn. Saw him live many years ago but have forgotten about him. Will look out for his stuff now. Cheers James😊

James, it took me for3ver to find that Flock of Seagulls albums. I use to see it everywhere but when I wanted it I could not find it. Once I finally secured a copy that damn thing began showing up everywhere. I just remember many years ago you told me in a vinyl finds video to show the label! I still do due to your coaching James lol.

Ha! Thanks Steve...I don't always show the label myself, I should practise what I preach. The Flock of Seagulls record is a nice listen.

Congrats on 100 James. Flock of Seagulls released 5 albums in their original iteration, but towards the end they had no sales and hardly any original members. They have reformed with their original members in the past decade or so releasing two albums from the look of things. A band that very much IS their 1st album, somewhat unfairly I’d think, but I also only have one… a comp consiting largely of their first albums singles and remixed released just 6 months after their previous studio album… usuallt not a good sign? Anyhow, enjoy your finds and weekend 😊

TYA LP is a good find. Great value too. I have that version of that Spirit Lp. In fact I’ve got loads by them but no idea how that’s happened. 😳 I had that Deacon Blue Lp after recommendation from someone in Vc. I took it back saying didn’t realise I had it already 😂 I still possess little Dylan. 2/3 ish. I love that Flock of Seagulls Lp. I ran is brilliant and my fave synth pop song ever. Just featured a track from freedom on my lastest video. Need that kRaftwerk Lp Love that Jam Lp. Art school is my favourite Jam song ever. Looks like a US copy as U.K. one didn’t have inner sleeve. Cheers James, Chris

Thanks Chris. Probably would have passed over that Flock of Seagulls LP again had you not talked about it a while back. Yes, the Jam is a US issue, forgot to mention that. Strange to think of a US copy of The Jam's debut album somehow turning up in rainy old Lancaster!

Deacon Blue is always in my mind as a butt of a rather cruel joke. Luckily that Dylan bit came at the beginning because i was about to comment how Saved is the only Dylan album i don't have until i stopped buying his albums in 2006 when in fact it's 1 of 4. Ihave been buying Ten Years After albums very slowly, i think i bought my first about twenty years ago, may have been this year when i bought the latest and i'm still missing A Space In Time. I'm buying their albums on cd. Although i had bought several Neil Young albums by the time Freedom came out, that was the point i started and stopped following his releases. I still bought sort of reluctantly the following Ragged Glory and a bit later Harvest Moon, but that was it. I have bought many of his albums before and after that, but not anymore caring how much after the fact i bought them. Pasi
@jamesgriffithsmusic2 ай бұрын
I don't know or have any of Young's albums after 'Ragged Glory'. I don't quite know why I lost interest after that (because I really liked RG), it just somehow happened. I've dipped in and out of his later records on Spotify and even though I've liked some of them I haven't been inspired to buy them. Actually I did buy 'Shed' on CD when it came out, and gave it numerous listens but it didn't click and I ended up getting rid of it. I liked 'Trans' a lot more. Thanks Pasi.
@6758pasi2 ай бұрын
@@jamesgriffithsmusic I have similar feelings too. After Harvest Moon i have bought only Prairie Wind which is from 2005 (bought it in 2012) but have bought three of his archive releases since, also albums from 70's and 80's.

I purged all my Ringo albums. Blast From Your Past would be a good one to get but I won’t. Spirit is a band that I think is under rated. I’m working on a video of the 25 greatest US bands. Spirit won’t be included but they are good. Jokerman is a great song but most of the rest isn’t near as good. In fact, I can’t even remember most of the songs. I only have one REM on vinyl. I have most of their records on CD. I’m sure they will make my top 25 US bands. Two great Neil Young albums.

@vinylrichie0072 ай бұрын
@ There are about 10 bands that I wanted to include. Picking what would be 25 was the hardest. The video turned out too long with 25 but I’m happy with the overall flow. 50 would have been a mistake.

I haven't been very good at keeping up with my vinyl finds. Maybe I need to start numbering them. I have been trying to get more Ten Years After album and I haven't picked up the one you showed yet. I have that Deacon Blue album and haven't listened to it in ages. I will have to pull it out. I reviewed albums for a local publication for a short amount of time and Infidels was the first album that I gave five stars. I'm a big fan of Bruce Cockburn and still working on his catalog. Great R.E.M. and Neil Young albums.

Hi James My earlier comment appears not to have saved for some reason??..so here's another...congrats on 100th finds video. Spirits' debut is great, really atmospheric songs, love " Topanga Windows". The Ten Years After album sounds intriguing judging by your description..i've heard Cricklewood Green many years ago but found it too bluesy for my taste. Flock of Seagulls ' Wishing' was an interesting single and i get the Bill Nelson production connection. In my opinion The Jams' debut is their weakest album songwriting wise..i prefer the follow up which i know will be controversial as it usually gets panned critically. I need more Kraftwerk in my collection, i only have Autobahn. Nice finds.

Happy 100! I can't recall if I have ever seen a copy of a Deacon Blue album anywhere, or perhaps I am simply unobservant. Very cool to see Bruce Cockburn. I'm hoping that some of his 90s era albums get a vinyl pressing since they are only currently on CD. I've had that Flock of Seagulls record since 1984 or 1985, because my friend suggested it to me. I have three of their albums, but that is probably the best one. That's a fabulous REM record. I feel old announcing when I bought records, but I did buy that one when it came out 😔Very nice finds.
@jamesgriffithsmusic3 ай бұрын
Thanks Brian. Deacon Blue records are quite common in the UK. A while back I purged their early nineties album 'Whatever You Say, Say Nothing' a while back and really regret it now. It was produced by Paul Oakenfold and was a bit of a departure for them. God knows why I got rid of it, but of course now it's become quite a well-sought after record.

Isn't it hilarious how awkward we were in our early videos - we are much more relaxed on camera these days, if a little grizzled and greyer! I've been thinking about the Deram label lately, they certainly put out a very appealing slate of titles, always nicely presented with great sleeves and just very satisfying to have in your hands and look at while you listen. The rock LP really hitting its stride as a commercial format and also an artistic statement. Don't think I have a great deal on it other than the Moody Blues and some Ten Years After, maybe a few other odds & sods but I really might like to seek out more, they do not turn up here all that frequently. Found that first Spirit album (with the original cover) dirt cheap as well, think it was due to the supposed condition but it was totally fine by my standards. Missing that Bruce Cockburn (his early albums are cheap as chips here, not too many are keen on them), doesn't seem to have had any particular hits on it that I remember but those would start rolling out across his next several albums. Got Flock Of Seagulls, I Ran was one of those songs I liked at the time and had taped off the radio. Solid pickups, cheers!
@jamesgriffithsmusic3 ай бұрын
I come across like such a geek in my early videos that I'm surprised I ever built up any kind of audience (or maybe it was just an audience of geeks??). I'm not sure what other records I have on Deram apart from the Moodies ones, will have to check that. A really good friend of mine is a huge fan of Bruce Cockburn and had often talked about him to me, but it was years before I found a record. He's become a bit of a slippery slope for me, but given that I find his records so infrequently, I'm not unduly worried (yet). Cheers Doug!

Don't tell the antique dealers they are doing anything wrong. Let them continue to trade in their ignorance. I can vouch for the Rust Never Sleeps album. Enjoy! LOL Nice Jam find. I don't have that one myself either but have three copies of Sound Affects. Let me know if you need one.
@jamesgriffithsmusic3 ай бұрын
Hi John. I actually do have a copy of Sound Affects, thanks. I had it years ago then lost my copy of it somehow, but fortunately found one in Oxfam a while back. Glad you're enjoying Rust Never Sleeps.
@Thevinylscavenger2 ай бұрын
Quality self conscious rambling there. Your local Oxfam has some good donations over the years whereas mine does not...... My high street is like many in the UK depressing and dying due to council mostly. Let's leave it at that. I seem to fluctuate with Deacon Blue so would regret getting rid of my Raintown album. They are more a greatest hits band at times. Don't know Ten Years After but i think £4 and something about Stonehenge sounds logical to pick up. Spinal Tap's reference? Infidels sounds interesting. The Biblical reference was correct i think though also as a bonus in Jewish rabbinic tradition i believe if you've said what you needed to say and no one is listening anymore you shake the dust off your shoes (or sandals) and leave that town/village/area. You'll need to memorize the Neil Young discography. It's quite easy really. I have enough of his to be content, some artists like him have a phenomenal back catalogue.
@jamesgriffithsmusic2 ай бұрын
Thanks Martin...I purged a copy of the 1993 album that Deacon Blue did with Paul Oakenfold a while back; not sure why I did that now - I think it's quite rare now.
@Thevinylscavenger2 ай бұрын
@jamesgriffithsmusic Fellow Hoodlums? Fairly rare yes. I think like alot of bands they probably ended up with pressure to have hits. I wasn't particularly keen on them covering Bacharach and David either though it got them a No.1.

I don't know why, but I always thought Goodnight Vienna was a reference to the cat in Rising Damp? I've been looking for that Flock of Seagulls for ages, in contrast I tried to barter that Deacon Blue at the record fair a few years ago, no one wanted it so (stuck for space at that time) I just gave it to them save carrying it home 🤷♀. Nice find for the Kraftwerk n Jam. Do you need All Mod Cons? Barely aged!

Hi Steve, thanks for watching. I have a copy of All Mod Cons, though thanks for offering. It's 'This is the Modern World' I'm lacking, though annoyingly I did used to have it. @@jamesgriffithsmusic @jamesgriffithsmusic Well on further investigation they were both 1974, giving Ringo approx 2 months of episodes to formulate the title idea. However as Lennon actually wrote the title track over his (18month) 'lost weekend' starting in 73, I think unless for some reason Leonard Rossiter was drinking back then with Harry Nilsson and Keith Moon etc then I would have to concede the case is weak. You know James we really should consider co-authoring a book of totally incorrect rock facts!!
