Lots of great artists on IRS, but I must protest regarding Dead Boys being a NY band, they were from CLEVELAND.

I was at the first US show of The Lords Of The New Church. It was in 1981 at a place on Long Island, NY called My Father’s Place. Saw them 4 or 5 times after that, too. Great band

Hi Stephanie ! So in a video where I get mentioned I didn't comment ! 😬. Love Lets Active - Waters Part is my favorite track on Cypress. Dark Continent by Wall Of Voodoo is a classic 👌 Back In Flesh & Lost Weekend favorite tracks. Love Buzzcocks they had a 7" on IRS called Are Everything where all involved took hallucinogenic substances while recording & mixing. Eyes Of A Stranger did win the Canadian equivalent of a Grammy ( Juno ) for best song in 1982 & it deserved it. See Ya 😊

So I still can't understand why people buy albums made by nobody's. Do they look at the cover and say "Wow, that guy on the left looks like a hell of a guitar player?" Or "I'll bet that cute guy on the right is the drummer and I just KNOW he is fantastic by looking at him."

Those IRS comps introduced me into a lot of bands back in the 80s. I have never seen that Fasjion album or Cypress. IRS was just the cool label back in the late 70s and early 80s. Them along with Stiff were to labels I loved to buy a lot of albums from. Most of the time it was good but not always. Nice Wall of Voodoo albums. Steve

What a great idea! Love the label. Saw lords at the concert factory a.k.a. cuckoo's nest in Costa Mesa back in the day (as well as many other artists including REM) -since you are from LA you probably know of it. Fun show. Live for today was originally done by the grass roots, a great 60s jangle pop group. Super underrated. Let's active Front man Mitch Easter also produced the first few REM releases. So much cool music back in the day. Oh, and nice shirt BTW. Not sure if you're a bay area resident now, but I call Berkeley home now. Thanks for sharing the passion! Peace.

Thank you Tony 😀 Would have loved to see the Lords back then. I was just a girl back then and couldn't get into any clubs :( I love how Stiv Bators incorporated a lot of 60's covers into the Lords and his solo stuff. Cool fact about Mitch Easter. I how a lot of the early 80's groups brought back that 60's sound. So good. Must be fun living in Berkeley. I have lived in SF but I'm on the Central Coast now.

As a fellow I.R.S. Records fan, this video is such a joy to watch! I like a lot of your picks, especially the Wall of Voodoo and Stan Ridgway ones. You'll be interested to know that there is an I.R.S. Greatest Hits Vol. 1! It was available only through a coupon offer included with Vols. 2 & 3. Vol.1 has more songs from Oingo Boingo, Klark Kent, the Stranglers, Chelsea, and Henry Badowski, as well as an early Berlin track, and a few other goodies! My favorite I.R.S. releases would be Dark Continent, Call of the West, & Sevens Days in Sammystown - Wall of Voodoo; Suburban Lawns - Suburban Lawns; Only a Lad - Oingo Boingo; Special Beat Service - The English Beat; ...All the Rage - General Public; Beauty and the Beat & Vacation - Go-Go's; Skafish - Skafish; North by Northwest - Tom Robinson; The Crack EP - Cosmetics; Crown of Thorns EP - Crown of Thorns; and I.R.S. Greatest Hits Vols. 2 & 3! The one that I'm most interested in checking out next is Life is a Grand by Henry Badowski.

Thank you! I'm glad you like the video. Cool to hear from another I.R.S. lover. I just looked up the track listing for I.R.S. volume 1 on Discogs and it's really good. Adding that LP to my wantlist. Really digging your favorites. I have a Cosmetics album somewhere in my collection that I need to give a good listen. Henry Badowski is very cool. So many records, so little time. Cheers!
