What Madeira thread do you use for embroidering fonts on marine vinyl? I am using 100% polyester 40 wt. I had somewhat less breaks using your embroidery setup suggestions (cutaway stabilizer, 505 basting spray, SF101 interfacing, 75/11 ballpoint needle), cutting the number of shredding and thread breaks down from every single letter to about every other letter. But my font is too thin and gets sucked into the marine vinyl even when I use a topper. I am making key fobs with embroidering 1/4” font “In loving memory of…” I even had the wording all professionally digitized. Any suggestions? Any suggestions on a site to purchase a bold 1/4” font to embroider on marine vinyl? Thanks for any advice you may have.

@@threadmodeembroidery2374 yes my pe 800 the tension is too tight and the stiches broken the fabrics leather
@threadmodeembroidery23743 жыл бұрын
@@hooked_fish I can be so many different things causing the breaking. I suggest starting with the thread, once I switched to Sulky or Gunold or Madeira my machine was happier. Then the right needle will be a big help, I often use a ballpoint 75 or 80 on vinyl, but if that isn't working on that specific day I'll switch to an embroidery needle (never jeans or leather needle they cut the holes to big on vinyl and it can fall or tear apart too easily) Sometimes the design can be too dense for vinyl's, adding some cut away stabilizer under the design can help with the dense designs. Also just playing with the tension up or down until you get the right setting for your machine. It can be a pain with the trial and error.

Hi, if you are finding that the vinyl rips when making things add a layer or two of cut away stabilizer floated under the hoop while stitching and cut the excess away before adding the backing piece so it won't show in the edges. Also NEVER use a leather or jeans needle it makes holes that will always rip. I use a 75 or 80 ballpoint in a lot of my vinyl embroidery stitching.

@threadmodeembroidery23742 жыл бұрын
Hi I use a 75/11 on vinyl, just a regular ballpoint needle. However, It will all depend on the machine you have and the vinyl you have as to what needle will work best for you. What I do recommend is testing your needles in your material and absolutely do not use a jean needle or leather needle because they will make larger cuts as opposed to punched stitches.

What kind of needle or size do you use?
@threadmodeembroidery23742 жыл бұрын
Needle size depends on thickness of material. I like to use a 75/11 ball point with vinyl, and sometimes I use an 80/12 ballpoint. The stitches can be finer with the smaller needle, due to the hole size it punches into the material, but thread can also get shredded easier with the smaller needle hole at such fast stitching. The best idea is to try different needles with your threads and see what works best with the materials you have. Also a side note : Never use a leather needle or jean needle with vinyl, as they cut the vinyl instead of just making a hole.
