Great response, Elliott! Love listening and watching your videos - I learn so much. I need some Leon in my collection. Cheers friend!

Hi Friend, thanks for watching and commenting. If I were to suggest a Leon LP to start with it would be Carny from 1973, many consider it his best and it is my favorite.

@@elliottcrews4997 Excellent! I'll keep my eyes peeled for this!

Hi Elliott, I've just realised that I wasn't subscribed. It's always an education listening to you talk about about the music you love.

Hi friend, thanks for the sub. I appreciate your kind words.

Fun video Elliott. I still have that blues box on the wish list! Clifford Brown was on pace to be the new Diz. Unfortunately he died much too young. Can't beat those Ella records. I also like to collect the Sarah Vaughan discography. Some interesting 45s there. I don't have too many of those in my collection. You can't beat any of those early Armstrong records. All of those Columbia 6 eye releases are gems. Gotta love those 70s Allman Brothers albums. When I listen to those its like getting in a time machine going back to my childhood. Molly is a great fingerpicker! That album is also on my list. Regarding viewership on videos... it is amazing which ones actually gain viewers and which ones don't. Sometimes it seems that the ones you do the most work for and the most time are the least viewed. You never know what people are going to like or what KZbin is going to put on people's recommended list. I have been doing more improvisational review videos on particular albums and artists lately. Happy New Year to you and hope to see many more videos!

Thanks so much for watching and commenting. Isn't it ironic that Brown being the straight shooter, not a drinker, didn't do drugs ends up dying at such a young age. Such is life. I agree that the more work that goes into a video more often than not the fewer views and the ones that seem like throw aways often get tons of views! I've been digging into the early years of Jazz and picking up the Armstrong and other similar artists a lot. I hope 2024 is a great year for you.

I was a young teen in the 70’s but I had to pick the 60’s. Rita Coolidge is a great pick for a dinner guest. Tommy Jerrell lived his dream. I remember that video.

Hi Pat, thanks for watching my friend. Coolidge was a part of a lot of rock history that is for sure. I saw that you have up loaded your tag entry, headed there to check it out!

Thanks Elliott! Great post - a lot of interesting facts about many artists, especially Leon! Gonna pull out the EmmyLou and Jackson LPs you recommend - haven't played those in a long long time. BTW have the Clifford Brown LP - really nice, unfortunately my Prestige copy (not OJC) is not mono but rechanneled for stereo (hello mono button on preamp!). Hope you have a great 2024.

Hi Michael, thanks for watching and commenting. Does the mono switch work well in taking one of these rechanneled or enhanced for stereo and converting it back to the intended original mono sound? If so that is good news to me. I have one of those switches hooked up between my pre amp and amp. I hope you have a great 2024.

Carney was my favorite Leon album.

Hi Charlie, thanks for watching and commenting. I agree, Carney was his best!

Yes be careful of people who can fire people up with their speech and convince them to do anything , morals be damned. Very scary how people don’t really think. Nice tag Elliot, always a lot of records that no one else will show with some stories also.

Hi Steve, thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. It actually scared Leon Russell when he realized what could happen when he worked the crowd like that. I hope this year is a great one for you. I hear you're planning to retire, more time to dedicate to being Granddaddy!

Hi Elliot, I'm a CD collector but enjoy your show because you have introduced me to a bunch of new artists to check out and reminded me of others I had forgotten. I love your blend of trad jazz and the country / folk stuff, exactly what I also enjoy ! If you don't already know them, I'd like to recommend Romney Getty and Rhiannon Giddons to you, both folky/country/bluegrass stylings....
@elliottcrews49978 ай бұрын
Hi Luyton, thanks for watching. I appreciate your kind words. I'm a fan of Giddons but Getty is a new name to me. I will check her out.

Hi Elliott, Great choice with the EmmyLou record. One of my favorite pickups this past year was her album The Ballad of Sally Rose. We were on a live stream together a couple months back and you recommended the Leon biography to us. Last week I finally downloaded it off audible. Excited to get into it. Happy New Year!

Thanks, Elliott! Who wrote the Leon Russell biography you read? Too bad about people not watching the Tommy Jarrell video as he is truly one of the great icons in old time fiddle and banjo music.
@elliottcrews49978 ай бұрын
Hi Charlie! The Leon bio was written by Bill Janovitz. I'm hoping the Jarrell video will eventually be discovered by someone that will share it with in an old time music community or group and it will end up getting some views. I hope you have a great 2024.

I’m one who’s seen more than just a minuet of that show you did d and gone to rabbit hole of Tommy jarrell ,he’s almost as handsome as you and you’re still growing toward seventy year s to me the hair change on the side of your head turned white and brought out loveliness of your eyes a favorite video you did -a love supreme - it could be the emperor’s. new clothes because in those times they were making albums of dischord and people had become scared to speak the truth about it because the world would call you raceist

Was that church of god in christ you talked about a recognised cult then? Certainly sounds like it. A belated happy new year to you Elliott. Country is more and more on my radar these days though not modern overproduction Garth Brooks stuff. Man, he is cheesy.
@elliottcrews49977 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching and commenting! I’m not sure about the COCIC, there are so many denominations with similar (sometimes the exact same) names it gets pretty confusing. I totally agree with you about modern top 40 country, not my cup of tea either! Take care my friend.
