You have glued the yellow top surface vinyl over the grey bottom surface. Should not the grey bottom surface be peeled back so that it can be glued over the yellow vinyl after being folded? The result shown here reduces the non slip quality of the grey bottom surface.

You would want the yellow on the seam because it is the top surface of the vinyl mat. Usually, people cut a mat to fit into a room tightly with other martial arts mats. In that case, losing a small section of the grey bottom surface is unnoticeable.
