What an absolutely fantastic entry Jack. I was cheering from start to finnish. Really made me happy. Beck is a great entry, absolutely, with his Norwegian and Scottish ancestry. Absolute qualifier. I agree with you, I can not decide, those two albums are my favorites as well! Joni Mitchell. Another artist of Norwegian descent. Did you know Norways greatest composer, Edvard Grieg was part Scottish? The family name, originally spelled Greig, is associated with the Scottish Clann Ghriogair (Clan Gregor). After the Battle of Culloden in Scotland in 1746, Grieg's great-grandfather, Alexander Greig (1739-1803), travelled widely before settling in Norway about 1770. I don’t know if DJ’s qualify as much of anything but is Anglo-Scottish/Norwegian Alan Walker something? Never heard of that Danish band, sounds intriguing! Love learning about unknown music, you’ve introduced me to several. Btw, all English speaking peope in the world… it os pronounced Mun-k 😊 I’m so impressed, this was wonderful. I’m smiling from ear to ear 😊. Best of luck Jack! Ha det bra! God natt.

Hey Morten, So glad you enjoyed it! I did know that Edvard Grieg was part Scottish. Well, I learned that because of your contest 🙂 Thanks for putting on a great contest. It was a lot of fun to do and I discovered some new music in the process. I also learned some Norwegian... though, I suspect my pronunciation was more than a little off! Cheers, Jack

Thanks Mark! My eyes were filling with tears by the time I got to the chorus 😂 To quote a great man, listening to this song was , "Bliss and heaven! Oh, it was gorgeousness and gorgeousity made flesh. It was like a bird of rarest-spun heaven metal or like silvery wine flowing in a spaceship, gravity all nonsense now!" And it only took 4 seconds to "compose".

That was brilliant that you mentioned Norway's contributions to the arts & sports & YT celebrities. Morten's song is a real earworm 😂 Beck nice pick!! I saw him last year. Such a great live show. Great & very educational vid.

Many thanks, Ben. The Morten Aastad song is hands down my greatest achievement on KZbin. All it took was the sentence "A sea shanty about a viking named Morten Aastad" typed into an AI song generator. My eyes were filling with tears the first time I heard it. Majestic! Beck's great live, saw him a couple of times too around Odelay and Modern Guilt periods. Cheers for watching pal!

Cheers Brian! I'm thinking of getting rid of my record collection and just listening to AI generated songs all day... Morten's song was a thing of beauty!!!

Cheers Mike, I spent ages trying to find a Scottish musician of Norwegian descent. Even to the point of trying to find Anderson's (or any other -son surnames that could link to Norwegian heritage). I was surprised to draw a blank, especially with the close proximity of Scotland to Norway and its history. It's great doing a contest that get the grey cells working!

Hi Jack! I have a few Beck albums but all on compact disc including what you showed. JT has a terrific channel. I will definitely check out the other channels you mentioned. Now that I think of it, I subscribed to Stephanie West’s channel recently. ✌️
