Looking nice Craig! I'm about to purchase my first turntable, thanks to your videos I've been both more excited and confident entering the hobby. I was looking forward to getting one of those Fluances, but import fees to Brazil is about 500 dollars, not counting shipping, so I'm going vintage. A Gradiente DD-200Q, or JVC QL-F4 (same model). Thanks for your videos and keep em coming! Vinyl is final!

I am pretty sure that I am the only (or one of the very few) Fluance owners in Hungary, because they don't sell these things here. But based on a few videos, including yours, I got a Fluance RT-81 this spring, and then later I also got some non-powered Fluance Signature-series speakers imported (also mostly because of your positive reviews about the turntables). I am really satisfied with the high quality and with the sound. And they also look really good, so I am genuinely happy.

Thanks Craig for this review, there are quite a lot of these type of speakers out there. I had Klipsch R-15PM's which were great. I still have the R14-PM models at my summer home and they are great all around speakers. I also had Pioneer DM-40 speakers 2 years ago. There is a bunch of these type of speakers for sell which have got great reviews, it seems when it comes to bookshelf speakers, it's very easy to find good ones. These days i have Floorstanding speakers from Jamo which are great.

Hey Craig, how’s it goin’ eh ? Greetings from the UK. Just want to say how much I enjoy your channel. Being of a similar vintage to yourself I have been interested in hi-fi since the late 70’s. Like many people I was out of vinyl records for 25+ years but dived back in about 3 years ago and haven’t looked back. I really like your down to earth common sense approach to the subject matter, I am of a very similar mindset. I’ve always been at the ‘budget’ end of the market but have always been able to put good sounding systems together for sensible money, often buying second hand. I currently have an Audio Technica AT-LP5 direct drive turntable and Cambridge Audio Topaz AM10 integrated amplifier, both purchased used , with Dali Zensor bookshelf speakers bought in a sale. This set-up produces excellent sound at a very reasonable cost. The option of turntable + powered speakers is a really good one, these Fluance ones look great. There are at least a couple of manufacturers that make them with built in preamps too. Anyways enough rambling, thanks for the great entertaining videos, I really look forward to them. Enjoy the holidays 😊

Hey from NYC. I got a Fluance belt. Fluance has great customer service for getting accessories and their upgrades. I needed it for another brand turntable...(which has no specs for belt noted & are hard to contact) . It is a hard to get 36 in belt, which wraps around an acrylic platter just like one in some Fluance turntables. Someone's YT (yours?) review showed me the Fluance platter and belt looked like what I needed, so I looked it up and measured my belt. Thanks! No more room for any physical media; I am digistising some LPs to let go of, and only buying some CDs and regular and hi-res download.

The Fluance line is not made by Hanpin. Fluance turntables are made by Ya Horng, a Taiwanese based company. The Fluance turntables at least, are manufactured in Ya Horng's Taiwan factory. Ya Horng also the OEM manufacturer for Teac, Akai, Monoprice. Hanpin makes Audio Technica, Numark, Reloop, Music Hall....and some others most likely.

@owenlaprath41354 жыл бұрын
No bass port? GOOD! If it is not perfect (and none of them ever are), a bass reflex port introduces all kinds of problem. There are low level wheezing noises, caused by the air being squeezed through the port. Worse: You necessarily get bass echoes, caused by delayed bass waves coming out the rear, or phase shifts with partial cancellations. My own ears react very oddly to all that, by closing the inner ear tube as if I am in an airplane rapidly changing altitude. It hurts! Closed cabinets, also called acoustic suspension systems, do everything right. I keep coming back to them, with rare exceptions, where a ported system is actually done well, but that is indeed as RARE as a well done steak that is still rare inside ....

Subbed! Great video. Would you be able to tell us if you hear an audible "hiss" or "hum" when these are powered on? Is it only when the volume is cranked up? Also - i've heard the issue can be worse with the RCA -> Aux input feature. Is this something you could test for me and let me know? Thanks in advance!
@VinylTV334 жыл бұрын
I do hear a faint hiss when turned up all the way. It's not audible during songs. My suggestion is to make sure your source is turned up all the way, and control the volume with the remote.

Hi Craig.. give me your thoughts on the Record Weights or Clamps.. me .. i still use my Precision Instant Grip .. the PIG..which i have used for yrs with my Revolver Black Ash & really have faith in it.. what do you feel about this subject my friend.. hope to here from you on your great Vinyl TV..
@VinylTV334 жыл бұрын
For turntables with a lot of torque, I'd use the heavy clamps. For average decks with on board motors, I'm afraid of putting too much strain, or hurting the barrings. For that, I'd look for a "clamp" that tightens down, rather than a weight. I still haven't found one that I like.

@joetjoepjoeserneejm4 жыл бұрын
You need to use the built in phono preamp on your turntable if you want to listen with these active speakers. So: yes, switch it on. If you have a turntable that doesn't have a built in preamp, then you can get some active speakers with phono preamp inside of the speakers such as Kanto Yu4/Yu6. Unfortunately that's an expensive solution.
@Andrew-ls9xg4 жыл бұрын
They need a preamp coming off of the turntable if your table doesn't have one built in. If you are wanting a cheap basic preamp, Pyle has one on Amazon for around $15.
@joetjoepjoeserneejm4 жыл бұрын
@@Andrew-ls9xg I know but then it becomes a three device setup again, if you really want as simple as possible (see title of the video) you need to have either a turntable with built in preamp or speakers with built in phono preamp.
