You must need more study about Manipur. I want to clarify you that meiteis is majority in Manipur but do you know the total population of meiteis is only 14 lacs . And one think the total valley area is less than 10% of the total land of Manipur. In the valley so many community are there. Some of them are non manipuris( Sikh,marwari, bengadeshi, bihari Nepali etc) and muslims kuki Naga and so many. So we are not dominant in the valley also. We the meitei can buy land on hills but everybody can buy our land, our land are fixed. Actually total population of meitei in the world is approximately 19 lacs. Our homeland is Manipur outside Manipur there is no place for meitei. We need to protect our land, culture and tradition. So we need ST and you must know according to the British constitution we are ST at that time and Our constitution is based on that constitution. This is our right not to take any other rights. We just demand our rights to the constitution not from kuki or any other tribes. We don't want to buy land from kukis or any other tribes. We just want to protect our land by constitutional rights. If we are not in ST list meiteis should be minority in our homeland very soon less than coming 10 years. First of all the demand of ST is not to buy land in hill areas, but to protect our land. If they have the right to protect their ancestral land, why can't the Meiteis have the right? Meiteis were under ST list till 1941 census without any legal documentation. Meiteis fulfill all criteria under Lokur Committee. We don't want to buy land in hills, but we want to protect ourselves. If 10 lakh people, which is less than the population of West Delhi District is considered a majority, then it's a problem. Yes, 40 MLAs are Meiteis, but what is the assurance that Meiteis will win in future also. At that time, we won't have political power neither constitutional safeguards. That's the main concern. If tribals don't like it, then let's negotiate and make out a plan. But don't be like you are going to decide our future.
