Good movie. Sergeant Major Plumley grown up not far at all from where I grow up @. Maybe 30 miles if that. I played football many times @ Shady Spring High field. We all coal miners or had family working in coal mines. Everybody helped each other through very bad times. You just don't see that much anymore at all.

I met Colonel Bruce Crandall in 2013 in Las Vegas. Right when I got out of the army I was invited to a Gala. Bruce Crandall was there and so were like eight or nine other Medal of Honor recipients. Amazing time. Drinking and talking with alot of amazing men. A short story about col. Crandall. We were getting helicopter rides over the vegas strip. And ge was the only person who would not get on the helicopter. Saying " I dont ride in helicopters. If I dont fly it I dont get into it." He was a very cool guy. Life of the party. Him and his small dog huey

Yes you're crazy, Army unit designations are the easiest things to understand, unless you're a marine :)

He tried and that's more than most crayon eaters do. They get lost with the alpha numeric stuff with dashes and diagonals. But they do damn well what they know how to do. Unlike some of our welfare in uniform soldiers. You know the ones.
@anthonypfannenstein48945 жыл бұрын
LOL. I never gave it much thought (I'm a Marine). The patches and all the tags and badges and knick-knacks on soldiers cammies, excuse me...BDUs....just meant they were part of the something of the something of the something of the something, etc. And on and on it goes LOL! JK, we give each other shit but we're the only ones allowed too. Anyone who hasn't put on the uniform were to try that, they'll get hurt, by all of us. Best way to get Marines and Army to merge as one is to have a civilian try talk shit to one of us.

Well, if one is smart they go neither to the Marines or the Army... The Air Force is the way to go.

Charles Yuditsky lol not all where off. There were a lot of issues with targeting Bombs and unwanted civilian casualties. The strafing runs where the pilots actually aim, should be dead on. Forgot the name but basically one pilot was kinda fed up with it and spear headed the GPS project on the military side things. Goal was to “drop 5 bombs in the same hole.”
@ziahn53675 жыл бұрын
Charles Yuditsky I am not too sure what your referencing with the 600 meters. GPS when introduced was accurate to 5m, so at any or, give a 5 m range and that’s where that bomb is going. It’s more accurate in some areas now. I should have also mentioned they did have laser guided bombs in that era, but I am not sure when they were used or efficient they were after a bomb (don’t know if 90% if bomb was for electronic and maneuvering or how much was actually bomb compared to dumb bombs).

Army unit names confuse me . I was a squid on smallboys. All we had to know was our ship's hull number , and the Destroyer Squadron or Battle Group our ship was assigned to . For us Intel types we needed to know the Task Force or Task Group our ship was sailing in and our Task Unit number . Come to think of it , it was'nt so simple . Nevermind ....
