Yes , indeed , he blamed himself... But as we see at the end , he's still alive. So I thought he faked his death for her own sake . He wanted her to have a normal life , to feel emotions she's never felt . He loved her but couldn't stand seeing her in her state , a emotionless killing machine . That's why he decided to disappear, because she only lived following his orders , which pained him a lot . He probably guessed that without him, she'll learn to live her own life , based on her own choices . He wanted her to be free. And he succeeded. I'm glad to know he's okay , it's not like he did anything wrong , in fact, he changed her for the better . This serie was beautiful. Not all of us really understand what love is, and seeing someone's journey on finding out the unknown is truly amusing. The art was exceptional and so was the plot . Everything's so beautiful, from characters to animation.

Never has a show made me cry more than this did. I’ve never really liked my life, but the reason is stupid. Everyone has faced some sort of hardship, but I haven’t. I’ve practically been given everything I’ve wanted. I don’t know what it is like to be truly sad, I don’t know what it is like to lose something dear. But some shows, make me feel like I’m sharing their emotions. And it makes me feel better. (Like I told you, STUPID)

You know, there is a sentence from another show that I try to take to heart: 'Everyone is entitled to their own sorrow, for the heart has no metrics or form of measure'. I also have quite a sheltered life and sometimes the problems of my friends seem far bigger and more 'justified' to complain about than my own. But in the end, that doesn't change your emotions and that you can try to understand your friends, though you might have different experiences. Everyone has their burden to carry after all. Yes, some have it far worse but that doesn't mean that your feelings are not valid. Also I love everything from books to series that make me cry. It's because you know this show touched you and you are invested. To put it bluntly: They make me feel things, and I like that, even or especially if it hurts. I think Violet Evergarden unlocked something in me that enjoyed crying because it shows how you care about something. It's the magic of fiction, to put yourself in the shoes of someone different and feel like them. Just like you can learn what it means to for example cope with loss like in Violet Evergarden when you haven't experienced any yourself yet.
