Hello Zlata. I had no problem playing on the G string on whichever song i play, in my 9 years playing. I always make my violin friends including my teacher happy when i play especially with a friend. But i do thank you for the demonstration, even though i raise my elbow right making sure the G string does not sound horrible. Hugs from America!

Maestra Zlata. I Love You! I've just started working on Czardas by Monti and was getting so depressed about my g-string tone that I nearly gave up. Then I found this video! I immediately tried the "up and over" technique and what a difference! My approach to the violin is going to change. One may think it's too late as I'm in my 11th year of study. However, although the sound is very different, the adjustment to playing is modest. Who doesn't know how to raise their fingers? It was just a matter of a great teacher like yourself saying "you MUST do it here". I'm older and I get complacent. I think that because I'm getting an adequate sound in the first, second and third position that the same finger posture should work in the 7th. I needed your instruction to snap me out of that false sensibility. You see, sometimes I get lazy. I just do not want to leave my comfort zone, and not shift my arm or to raise and curve the fingers to positions that are less comfortable. But then I found this video. You are the like drill sergeant that exclaims "get up out of bed soldier!" at four o'clock in the morning. Thus, thanks to you, today is a new beginning! I cannot thank you enough. God Bless You and Your Family.

Came across this video just when I needed it! I'm currently working on a piece with positions up to 7th pos on G string and my sound is just scattering and dry. My left hand arm angles should be fine, so I might look into my bow arm angle & weight next. While figuring out the tone myself, I would like to add on that it helps that your left fingers fully cover the string/note! I have this habit of not covering the string fully on high positions and it ended up really nasty on the G string because my violin couldn't get the note ringing fully Thank you for the great video anyway!😄😄

What strings do you use? I have to order new strings as It is getting hard to make contact on strings, except on A & E. It does not grap the strings and especially on the G string, sounds muddy. What do you suggest? I am now using Thomastic vision, but I may try the Vision solo Titanium. What do you suggest? Thanks very much, I really enjoy all your videos. I have been playing for about 4 months, however I had my violin for about11 months, but had to stop for health reasons. I still have problems hitting the exact fingering placements, but my ear tells me when I am right on. I do not want to use a freck or mark my violin, I wish to train my memory for the right finger positioning. Thank you again very much, Chava

I just started playing on third position after 7 months of playing the violin in first. I have to say, the g string is a little bit hard to make speak, it kinds of does a , i dont know how to say , like a screechy/wavy sound , guess ill practice more!

It's VERY early to start position playing after 7 months, and it could be that the bowing and first basics aren't settled and automated enough yet.
