0:43 The first "pattern" scale starting with the First finger -- A Flat Major
1:25 "Flashing the patterns" for all four strings
1:51 The next "pattern" scales - in incremental 1/2 steps up
2:40 The summary of the patterns used
2:55 Be very aware of what key you are in at every moment
3:25 The highest scale (VII position) starts with "G"
3:56 Help your LH fingers with the elbow!

Brilliant! Go through two-octave for all Major scales, Ab, A, Bb, B, C, Db, D, Eb, E, F, Gb(F#), G, with one PATTERN. I will introduce Bushkova's PATTERN SCALES to my granddaughter. She has already practiced two-octave scale in A Major with this hand PATTERN. Next month will be her 4th birthday. I can't imagine how fast she will go through all those scales. I have to spend lot of time to explain to her why there are so many "b"s and "#"s on the music sheet. Thank you so much Professor Bushkova!

I made up a scale that uses only the first finger to practice getting into the correct positions. Sometimes it uses reaching backwards and forwards and then shifting .Coming back down is very useful too. After that it`s hard to play out of tune . I don`t know if that has a name . Lovely that your Russian musical roots are still so highly valued . Sassmanhaus does a one finger scale but that is more a position change practice. My funny one finger scales work the way you move around as you play music .Then there is the Ruggiero Ricci method to Imitate the Crab. Imitando il Grancio . I hope that spelling was right . After that we should invent a finger substitution scale . I have not heard finger substitutions for a long time.

I've been playing the guitar for almost 8 years (i am 21 years old now) and i decided to pick up the violin to learn, and i am so excited to put my hands on one, i am watching all your videos so i can have an idea and try to compare the fingering and the techniques with the eletric guitar. Thank you for this video, i am really happy that the violin has patterns that are kinda similar to the guitar hahaha

@ViolinClassUSA

It depends on your hand size and structure and your fingers' lengths. Some people would look different form others. The main thing is to be able to move the fingers freely.

@ViolinClassUSA
@ViolinClassUSA 5 жыл бұрын
You can Google-search and you will probably find something. However, for learning-to-play purposes, I would not recommend using any diagrams. Since we play by feel and the sound, what I am showing in the video is much more constructive than any visual aid.

What complete book of violin scales, arpeggios & double stops do you recommend? I ordered Flesch online, and it is a huge disappointment. Odd and non- ergonomic fingerings, I think it's useless. I need a book that shows 4 octave fingerings, as well as clear indications as to where to shift. Also consistent fingering which stays the same ascending & descending. Please help me here, and a huge thank you in advance.
