Thank you, the 7/8 Cello sizing didn't occur to me. It shows how comfort is very important.

I've got a Thibouville-Lamy as well. It's a violin with a rich full sound.

This is genius! I’m having an ukulele built now. It will have no frets. All but the most expensive ukuleles are cheap compared to violins. Last night I was speaking with a very popular hand dummer. I told her I was having tons of problems learning to play the bongos. She advised me to leave them alone, drumming “shapes” or conditions the hands in such a way as to be unsuitable for playing stringed instruments like the violin. The violin most certainly is not a percussive instrument.

There's a cello in the Smithsonian Museum in Washington, DC that I believe is not full size, and the sound is astonishing! Oh, I forgot, it was made by Stradivari. ;)

Question Maestro. The treble sound comes off the back? Do we know why? I assume that without a sound post that might not be the case. Would that also be true of a guitar?

Why is the grain of the Violin sound post always perpendicular to the grain direction of the Violin top? Is it simply so the grains do not sink into each other if the grains are running the same way? or Does it affect the sound quality by the grain direction? Whether parallel or across grain. Thank you so much!
