Join me for a day in the life of a doctor! I'm a 4th year resident specializing in rheumatology and today I'm covering the inpatient service. The first patient we're seeing is a medical mystery! He's bleeding into his lungs (diffuse alveolar hemorrhage) and we have to figure out the cause so that we can give the right treatment!
Thank you to Dr. Garner and Katie for participating in this video!

Was not surprised at all. Sometimes we tend to hide things from our doctor because we are embarrassed. I've learned being honest is the only way I'd get the correct and proper treatment I needed. Thank you Violin MD for your wonderful videos, It's truly inspiring. I'm currently a Certified caregiver, Certified Phlebotomist, Certified Nursing Assistant, and soon to be Licensed Practical Nurse student!🥰

I think your true heart and sincerity comes out when you mention the patient has been doing a lot of cocaine and you have no judgements about it. Also you pointing out it’s probably due to mental health stress or a situation because of the pandemic is very humanizing. Many would be negative and judgemental and I feel this is where you shine and this is a quality that will take you further than so many others. Keep being amazing! And thanks for the awesome videos, they are well loved :) 💜👍🏻

Thanks for talking about the lab! I am a medical lab technologist in the US and it would be awesome if you shadowed the lab in one of your hospitals to show what we do (core lab, transfusion medicine, micro)! We're often overlooked since we don't leave the lab very often, but we play a vital role in patient care. Thanks for making great videos!

I just have to comment as someone who isn’t into anything medical, In fact I’m actually pretty petrified of the hospital! I’ve had experiences that have affected me. I feel like most drs I’ve encountered are not like you. They seem more cold. BUT I feel like your videos have helped a lot of my fears! I love hearing the other side and the calm demeanor your in while the patient may be so scared and a mess. This has helped me to change some of my own fears. Thank you! Also if you ever want to touch on anything like that from the patient side and the emotional things they are going through vs your side of getting them well I would love it!! Thank you so much! Wish you were my dr!!

In 2014 I started getting really sick. My brother had recently been killed so I was told multiple times that it must all be mental. I continued to decline. Finally I was so sick I was admitted to the ICU. First they though it was bone cancer then after a couple days it was figured out. I was in the hospital for two months being transferred to different hospitals for different surgeries. Doctors often brought in students on all different levels to teach them something about my very odd case. I was always happy to let them even though sometimes it got a little overwhelming. I figured that maybe that would avoid a misdiagnose for someone else. I still suffer with a lot of mysterious kind of stuff. There is a lot of doctors that would rather not get involved. I'm 26 now and suffer with more than i'd like to admit. I wish I would have come across a doctor like you that would have took a bit more time to try and figure out what was wrong with me so some of the damage I live with now would not have happened.

Hi Dr. Siobhan if the AI(Auto Immune test's are negative which was said in the last part of the video) check the functioning of kidney because in Auto Immune condition ( most concerned cause in this condition) the most affecting organ is Kidney if not then check for IPH (Idiopathic pulmonary Hemosiderosis). May this help to cure the patient and don't forget you are A Good Doctor.

I think it is really cool that you are specializing in Rheumatology. I have had Sjogren's syndrome since I was 5 years old (now 20). I was one of the youngest patients the doctors had ever diagnosed with it. Without the care of those Rheumatologists I would dead right now. Just wanted to say that your job and the work you do makes so much difference and that you are appreciated. Thank you for doing what you do! 😊🙏

Hi, Siobhan! I've really been into watching your videos lately and just wanted to say that you are motivating me to get into the medical field in some way or another. I do not know what I want to do specifically yet, but I hope that I can have just as much of an upbeat attitude and as much motivation as you do! So thank you!!

I love your videos! I was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis 5 years ago. I really wish there was more information out there for patients, family, and care givers. You making your videos is such a great way to inform all of us! It’d be cool to make a video every now and again highlighting different autoimmune diseases, like lupus, Myasthenia, Ms, and the countless other diseases. Bye for now! Much love to you! Kristin 💗💗💗

Hi Siobhan, I really really love your videos. I don't think I've ever commented so far, but I love how informative they are. I am not in the medical field, but my aunt and uncle are (now retired), and my mom was the person in charge of the analysis lab of a large hospital here in Turin, Italy. I found your channel randomly through my home page in KZbin, and from that moment I followed every single video. Lots of love from Italy! Stay safe!

These stories are like listening to stories from my mother. She is a nurse as well and also has to deal with covid cases. Its so bad here in california. These videos just help me better understand what my mother has to put up with and how her life is at work. These vids are the ones that inspire both me and my sis. Thank you so much as stay safe.
