A lovely one hour and twenty one minute ride and that too non stop without stopping at any of the stations. By God 😩😩, there are hardly any passengers at any of the stations. In those days in March the lockdown must have been intense, therefore nobody could leave their homes. I am waiting for an electrician to install a ceiling fan as one of our ceiling fans has stopped working. Yet nobody has come to install it. We are currently struggling due to lockdown here with every shop refusing to open. Very frustrating. Your videos really cheer me up. Thanks for sharing.

Lekker snel rijden met je eigen privé trein. Wie zou dat niet willen? Bij Duivendrecht linksaf komt ook niet vaak voor. Volgens mij wordt dat vooral door goederentreinen gebruikt? En inderdaad, dat stukje linksaf naar Den Haag Hollands Spoor had ik nog niet eerder gezien. Heel erg bedankt voor deze video!

Had you departed Amersfoort from 4b instead of 4a, you could have had a day out visiting (Zwolle); Deventer; Arnhem; Nijmegen; 's Hertogenbosch; Breda and Rotterdam. The downside would be that you wouldn't have done a traverse of the Binckhorst viaduct. It was a cracking day though!

Dat was een heel ongewone en leuke rit. Het weer zat ok mee, maar zo’n traject bedenk je allseen in bizondere tijden. Dank je wel Meester blij dat je altijd je Camera boj de hand hebt. Holland blijft boeien. ONNO Veldsema.

Alohaaaa alweer een mooie en een aparte route, daar was zeker een rede daar voor om zo te rijden? Oh ik zie het al de sein voorbij Woerden heb u versneld vooruit gespoeld ik dacht al na 20 seconden mocht u al weer vertrekken. Ik kwam pas achter bij station Gouda anders had u de voorganger wel tegen gekomen bij station Gouda Goverwelle :)

Er, ah, those speeds are in kilometers per hour. (Well, the signs are in tens of kilometers per hour.) So a speed of 8 is only about 50 MPH. A speed of 12 is about 75 MPH, where they start going faster than our road speed limits even up Montana and Wyoming way with single digit people per square mile population densities. The fast trains, however, run on special track between Schiphol and Rotterdam at up to 300 kph. about 185 MPH. Now THAT is MOVING when you see it in a video. {^_-}

Empty stock transfers do not involve self-loading freight. And in Holland they seem to figure the railroad workers are smarter than the US variety which shines a bilious color on American train rules. (They DO slow down to dead slow if workers are likely to need to be on the rails for their work as with fixing crossing guards.) Watch more videos. You can learn a lot. {^_-}

We only use the horn to either test it, or to prevent danger. Track workers that have to work on the track and not beside it, have a safety guy that does nothing but check to see if a train is coming. If so, he blows his horn.

Misschien omdat er via utrecht geen ruimte was, ook om de trein om te bouwen. Hoe dan ook, ik kon lekker op mijn plek blijven zitten. Ik zag het pas toen ik ging rijden, anders had ik het even gevraagd aan de bijstuurder.

@@CabviewHolland maintenence at Den Haag Centraal, meaning the trains from 's-Hertogenbosch and Dordrecht couldn't end in Den Haag centraal. So to maintain a good service they connected the Den Haag - Dordrecht and Den Haag - 's-hertogenbosch into 1 continuous train journey. Which connected via the Binckhorst boog.

@@dutchaviator4757 so let's try another longer guess. The direct route would be through Utrecht and straight on across to Den Haag. That would be a nice journey but a little bit difficult to schedule with the required forward direction change in Utrecht. They'd have a train change directions within a station's switch maze. MAYBE their software is not built to make that easy as it is fairly unusual unless a train terminates there and sits around for hours. So the only other route goes up towards Amsterdam. For that one the only path bottlenecks through the normally quite busy Schiphol. station. So they had to avoid that. So they shunt the train away from super busy Amsterdam at Diemen. The train drives across to the West and skips the Duivendrecht station to head back South using a handy bypass frack. That sends it back down towards Abcoude and Brooklyn er Bruekelen. At Bruekelen the train heads off to the west and Den Haag's repair facilities. There was no apparent rush getting to the destination and they did get him there with his errant train whistling at him the whole way. Figuring out such routings is why at least one friend of mine burned out as a route controller in Canada back in the 80s. {^_^}

Hmm, I think that something might have been lost in the translation here. I had guessed that "HS" meant high speed. In the early days in the UK, a chap used to walk in front with a red flag. Being so flat on this trip, he could probably have cycled it on many stretches of the journey. Ah well, with COVID as it is, at least I felt as though I got out and went, (somewhere). Nice weather for this time of year. . . . .

@Guus: Ja, ik ben al minstens de derde die dat wil weten. :-) Mijn eigen gok: het is moeilijker om een extra Intercity-pad (met kopmaken in Utrecht) te gebruiken dan een (versneld?) bestaand goederenpad (tot de splitsing voorbij Gouda: Moordrecht?).

It would be interesting to see how trains parked beside a station well away from the terminal are put back into service at the station. It would involve at least one drive out to the main line, a stop, and a drive the opposite direction into the terminal where it may or may not reverse travel again. That probably involves some fancy scheduling and controller interactions. Or does this never happen? Would the train just parked officially go into service at Den Haag Centraal? {^_^}

@@CabviewHolland One hopes Holland isn't treating their trains the way the US railroads treat their engines. They use it 'til it drops, use it for spare parts, then let it sit and collect graffiti until it rusts into a pile. I expect Holland repairs and puts things back in service, most of the time. That said, the easy place would be Den Haag Central. Den Haag HS would require the reversal trick to get into the station. Around here that is a big deal when I hear it on the Metrolink/BNSF control frequency locally. And that is late at night after the commuter trains stop running and BNSF is delivering freight to local warehouses. In your case you'd have to part out on the main line, jog to the other end, and start going the other way after officially changing the train's designation. On the other paw, I've not ever noticed a video with ALL the tracks in a terminal occupied at the same time by trains, or even all but one track. {^_-}

@@CabviewHolland Het gaat, morgen word ik 68 en dat merk ik. Maar wat dat cruisecontrol betreft, op de Noorse Flirt treinstellen zit zoiets. RailCowGirl schreef met dat ze de snelheid instelt op 70 en dan blijft dat ook 70, ook berg op of af. Nu rijden ze daar natuurlijk veel grotere afstanden en in Nederland veel kortere dus of zoiets hier zin heeft weet ik niet. Vandaar mijn vraag hierboven.

De treinen van NS met uitzondering van DDZ hebben geen cruisecontrol (FLIRT durf ik niet te zeggen). Het is een kwestie van met de tractiehendel een stand zoeken waarin de trein snelheid behoud. Dit gaat bij het ene materieel beter dan met het andere.

Ah, but there are a couple dozen meters of track he did not go over in that video which were unique because they lead only to the boog. In the video you linked at 3:19 you cans see the track going off to the left. {^_-} One good nitpick deserves another.
