I was able to move my attention around the body relatively quickly in todays session. It felt like i was obsessed with finding sensation rather than just observing it, had a lighter experience today. Maybe the obsessive thinking joined in with meditation as well haha. I dont know if this is much of an insight. Thank you
@canyouzen2 жыл бұрын
You are aware of this now!...so definitely a little bit of an insight. This is actually a very very common obstacle for Vipassana meditators...this urge to 'feel' or 'find' sensation rather than observe things as they are. It can take a long time to unwind this habit of trying to 'achieve'. You are aware of it now, so keep practicing doing this and you'll surely make progress 🙂 keep going!

Dear Josip, I am practicing Vipassana .I have been into Mantra meditation since seven years . Having lost my husband eleven months back and knowing the reality of body and energy being two different aspects of life .In reality I miss his physical presence and it depresses me .I don't have any fear of me leaving this body but fear for the life of my children.I send Metta too but please help me how to overcome this fear which I see hitting the solarplex just near the navel area .
@canyouzen2 жыл бұрын
Hi Manju - grief is a very strong emotion and so is this fear. It can always be supported through strong social connections to family, friends and community, on top of your meditation. This is a natural part of life, even your children will learn and they will be ok, especially if you taught them well. Keep practicing in this way in this area you feel. It will take time and patience. Take care 🙏🏼

Thank you very much for everything that you do and share! It's really helping knowing myself better and accepting who I am! I do have a question: what if a really big pain appears and it doesn't go? What do I do with it? Shoud I watch at it or ignore it? I ve noticed that if I don t give attention to it I don't feel the pain that much. (it's a leg pain, caused mostly by the position). Be blessed for all that you do!
@canyouzen Жыл бұрын
Your welcome! Glad it's helpful. Stay with it for a minute or so and investigate - what size is it? Shape? Does it change? Is there another sensation 'beyond' what you consider pain? Then just let go and move on. When you get back to it, try again, maybe it will be different. Hope this helps!

@canyouzen2 жыл бұрын
Hi Rohan, completely normal! Shaking etc can occur during meditation as the body is allowed to relax, which releases energy from stored-up stress and tension. This article explains it all: canyouzen.com/twitching-during-meditation-weird-sensations-how-to-deal-with-them/ Enjoy 🙂

@canyouzen2 жыл бұрын
Hi Neeru, sorry I won’t be making videos on the chakras, there is already plenty of information out there for you to consume on that! 🙂 they are just central nerve centres in the body where a lot of energy and emotion can be stored. Just focus on your practice, I am glad you are making progress!

Josip, Can you provide some insight into strong twitching and shaking , about 30 min into the sit for the last sometime whenever and wherever i move my attention to any part it starts tensing and relaxing from calves to face to back even the stomach, are these also sensations and do we follow the same strategy with them ( even face , jaw and eye pain) , just observe and move on, right?

How long should I meditate daily? Can I meditate for 5 hours daily if I can? I want to be free from my depression
@canyouzen2 жыл бұрын
It totally depends on how much time you can give, but generally the more the better! When it comes to depression, to improve results and monitor yourself during meditation, I would also recommend talking to a therapist, practicing physical exercise and having a strong friendship circle/community connection. It all takes time, but if you are gentle and kind to yourself, you will make progress 🙏

Is vapassna purely about the physical sensations in your body? Is there a meditation that focuses on the feeling within??
@canyouzen Жыл бұрын
It encompasses everything eventually. The physical sensations you experience is one of the easier doorways for most people to experience reality in this moment - this is more the key.

Do whatever works for you at the time =) don't overthink it! The important thing is that you are noticing the continually changing nature of sensations on the body 🙏

@canyouzen2 жыл бұрын
Oh don't worry about that too much, it may just be a misinterpretation of the language! I just mean - IF you hear any sounds around you, just to take notice of them. Any ordinary, normal sounds - birds, cars, rain, building construction, or even just neighbours making noise - anything at all! Hope this helps 🙏

Hi Josip, Wanted to ask whether i can scan both hands and legs together like in the guidance ,even if i have gross and blind spots and even feel the whole body ( or stick to part by part )... just finished a retreat feeling both renewed and confused. Feels like I am beginning again ....
@canyouzen2 жыл бұрын
Hi Rohan, we can begin again in every moment 🙂 if you have gross and blind spots, stick to part by part. If you have similar sensations in both arms (or legs) you can scan both at the same time. If they are very different, or if, for example, you can feel sensations in your left arm but not your right, go through them separately. Hope this helps.
