Love what you are doing Casey. Interesting story about break rotors. Friend ordered ceramic. We go to change them and the hub of the rotor I removed separated completely from the disc . Imagine the chances . Wow So scary Godspeed brother Just thinking about it .

I always used an 8 ball shifter in my race and drift cars, my freightliner as well... Just seems to be the right size and just cool. Also I recommend the Harland Sharp roller rockers, I have a set in my v10 and they will take more abuse than the bottom end will.

That's great advice! I'll remember that when the time comes. What pushrods did you do? Did you do different valve springs?
@evil_me
@evil_me 5 ай бұрын
@@caseysgoldenshovel I've got factory 1st/2nd gen springs and push rods currently, my old engine had a set of compcams springs but they only were better over 5800rpm... And the factory rod bolts give up on a 1st/2nd gen around 6200rpm and I found that one the hard way, twice 😭😂 Factory push rods and springs are great under 5800 if you have less than 0.500 lift from my experience
@CaseyPutsch

How much lift would I have on a stock 97 GTS with those rockers?
@evil_me
@evil_me 5 ай бұрын
@@CaseyPutsch 2nd gen cam is supposed to be 0.321 at the lobe, I have the old 1.6 HS rockers and I did have to use a valve guide cutter on a few cylinders. The newer HS rockers I believe are 1.7 so you might have to cut the top of the guides but I've heard mixed info on that as it seems not all factory heads are machined the same. Stock cam 1.7 rockers is right at 0.546 lift at the valve

Awesome video. You should look into Amsoil Syncromesh for the transmission. It’s not gear lube thick but holds up to abuse great. Made huge difference in my G56!

Love seeing the progress on the GTS! When the radiator on my Viper started leaking I opted to have an upgraded core with extra cooling capacity installed and that has worked well for me, but I am also not running track days in it either. What coolant will you be running? I know a lot of folks have been switching to Evans and seem to like it. Which rockers are you going to go with? The valvetrain is definitely the weak link on these cars, so definitely wise to upgrade the rockers and pushrods. For the oiling situation, have you considered swapping to the newer Viper pan with the swinging pickup to help with the starvation issues? And lastly, I love the idea of a brake proportioning valve adjuster that is in the car! Will make it so much easier to make adjustments.
@rotorblade9508
@rotorblade9508 5 ай бұрын
I read the brake proportioning valves work at like medium to high pedal pressure so I would try taking the default bias to the rear like 60% f/40%rear then use the valve to move the pressure to the front like 75/25, not sure if it is possible

So, with venturi tunnels, wouldn't it be easier to route the exhaust to exit close to the doors to free space further back? Side exhausts are also just cooler (as in more fun, they are probably hot as hell) 😀

2-way adjustable as in height and rebound. I have the same coilovers on my 98 gts but I'm struggling with the settings. Are you happy with your ride and what do you have the rebound set to? Thanks

I share your excitement over that brake bias control knob! That thing is awesome, and you're right, with the old Tilton knobs, you never knew where you were starting from. Are you using an actual proportioning valve, or dual masters with a balance bar?
@caseysgoldenshovel
@caseysgoldenshovel 5 ай бұрын
Proportioning valve to just keep the stock pedal cluster. Much easier!

Question Casey.. Maybe you said it and I missed it.. But did you change out gears in your viper to 3.55 or 3.73s or still on stock? Would you recommend it worth it to change the stock to higher gears? Is it really that huge of a difference acceleration wise or just feels faster?

Does anyone else think if we all go electric that we are much more easier to control? That who's in charge can easily cause/blame a grid attack or make up/blame a solar flare for his/herself with their long ass, never worked a day in their life, index fingernail full of boogers/ earwax and fecal matter to flip the off switch and send us back into the stone age? Or are the mushrooms finally kicking in? ;) definitely looking forward to the car content/new channel! 😂
