Viper Review, Fiesta Shows Rare Spinning Ride | Venture Rides Cobra

Viper is an extremely rare Venture Rides cobra operated by Fiesta Shows. This spinning ride is like a horizontal sky wheel with elements of both troikas and scramblers. In this video, I will review this dizzying attraction and explain why it's an extremely underrated flat ride.

I remember riding this (it was called Cobra) in spring of 1991 at a fair set up in the parking lot of Bramalea City centre in Brampton Ontario Canada. The spinning seemed intense, however, I was 13 at the time. I also remember they were playing "The way that you love me" by Paula Abdul when the ride started.

That same Cobra came to the Barrie Fair in the early 90's. I was always too afraid to ride it, so I would watched it all day.

What a find of a version of a lost ride here in the UK! At a local fair this appeared only once with "paratrooper" style cars. Covered with hundreds of old style light bulbs, I fondly remember this intensity especially at the bottom when the G force seemed at its greatest.

I've been on this ride. The one at the fair in my town is called the Scorpion. I ride it every year and yet haven't had the chance to ride it in reverse. Sounds incredible!

The last one I rode was at the Kentucky State Fair. It ran the boom counter clockwise and the chairs clockwise, meaning backwards. Only. It was all I could do to keep from getting sick. Wild classic ride!

When you got circles-in-circles and they spin in the same direction, it makes for some incredible rides. The only other rides that come to mind with similar physics are "Zipper", "Scat", and "Storm"; the latter actually has three sets of circles, all spinning in the same direction; that ride is INSANE! (One time, but only once, at a two-bit fleabag of a carnival, I rode a Scorpion where, due to incompetence (I think), the circles went the same way. That was an AWESOME ride! Pity I'll likely never feel that again ... unless someone gets the idea to run a Sizzler that way. (I suspect that's possible, but I've never seen; I'm certain that Scrambler rides cannot do this.)

I went on the cobra original it was great in thrill but the worst part or part of its charm was the simple lap restraint that it had that can give you anxiety, I recall it can be pulled overhead easily and you can fly out plus the one I went on didn’t have the feet bar. Your legs were dangling. To make it worse I recall being in the upright positing spinning and getting dizzy awaiting for the bottom side to be unloaded and have new riders load on, and it was a night that was chilly and I didn’t have a sweater on so it made the experience intense and memorable. Not to mention it was even colder when the ride was in motion and the wind would smack you as it swung upward!

At my county fair, they have this ride, but I believe it is called Cobra. It looks almost identical to the Viper, even in color scheme. I rode it once and I ended up never riding it again. I do not like intense rides. I remember waiting at the top of the ride for the other side to unload. It gave me massive anxiety. (Much like how the, now removed, Paul Revere's Midnight Ride at Holiday World felt.) I'm not sure what carnival it is through, but it's been at the fair every since I remember. It was at the 2019 fair. I'm fairly positive it will be at this year's fair, since it is the most popular ride.

At the Newton carnival this weekend, they did not allow single riders...weather was fine so I think it may be a revenue thing for them. This thing is NO JOKE....let's just say they did a really good job strategically placing the porta potties directly across from it lol.

I rode this years ago at my local state fair, very fast, also had a ton of lateral force. Was kinda meh, the ride isn't boring but nothing to write home about either. It's a fun little ride for kids and teens.

The first time I ever rode one I was 7 years old back in 1978 and it was called the cobra bright yellow and green lights yellow lawn chairs and on the back of a gondolas was an art drawing of a king cobra and on top of the ride that said cobra it was fast it went forward and then it went in reverse which was very intense

I rode the original of this ride (the cobra) so many times. It’s one of my favorites. They’re getting really rare now. And the new ones are ugly. Also the old cobras didn’t have feet rest, you just dangled them. My favorite was going backwards. I’m actually building a model one.
