This is a very detailed video and I wanted to thank and congratulate viperfrank for taking the time to do it. I own a MK5 so my turtable already is LED-equipped but I watched the whole thing through; I need to swap the dead LED in mine... Awesome work, thanks again.

Viperfrank you are truly one of a kind and brilliant at giving tutorials! Your tutorials are the best and are better than any other tutorials I've seen anywhere. All of your vids have everything, from being full of all the information you could possibly need and even humor, you are the man viperfrank, thank you again! I'm going through the process of fixing numerous things on 2 of my turntables and you are the person guiding me through the way.

Just finished this project and it actually worked like a charm!!! Learned to solder as I went. You have no idea how excited I am by this! Thanks, James. You rule! Now if I can just figure out how to fix my tonearm lift mechanism... LOL. Seriously, though, thanks a million. Great videos and great work.

Your five part video is really well done, brill. When joining wires they can spring apart and solder can be flicked at your face. Any cheap pair of safety glasses from Wickes say are worth wearing when soldering. You are very good at teaching James I've learned a lot from many of your videos on so many subjects you cover. Be nice to your cat mate. I've have subscribed.

Nice one, great video again! £3.50 from Maplins did both decks for me today. One related tip - while you've got your lamp out you could take the plunger out and regrease it with Tamiya Friction Damper (Hard) grease. Gets it back to that factory slow pop-up.

I got all the right parts. Had to watch the vids like 5 times each vid. Thanks Frank. And people stay away from eBay's targets LED target kit

Cool video, nice one Frank👍 One suggestion from my side. The regulator you're using has a grounded chassis ones it is fixed with the screw to the plate. The plate itself is also grounded. This means that it is not necessary to solder two wires to the ground pin on the regulator. One can also just solder the ground wire for the LED to the ground pin of the regulator. The ground for the power supply will the go through the chassis of the regulator and the metal plate it is fixed on. 😉

@nathancrumb1 it depends on the value but here is what you do the order code is M- and the value of the resister, so for example if you had a 68 ohm resister the code would be M68R if it was a 200 ohm resister than thats M200R if you have a 47 killo-ohm resister thats M47K. the resister i used, if your using the same led as me was a 68 ohm resister M68R. hope this helped and thank you for your comment. nice one!!!

Great tutorial Frank! I did the same to my Stanton Turntable using 5mm colour changing LED instead and I have great result. Althought target light for stanton is build in different way, doesn't have resistor and takes only half voltage (12v) I have follow all the steps and it works. I have ordered my LEDs from Proto-Pic which don't require resistor at all, so with 2 voltage regulators my upgrade costed only 5£ and was much easier :) Wish I could find brighter lightbulb, mine is 3000 mcd but it's colour change cycle it's really eye-catching.

Nice one!.. One of my target lights hasn't worked for years, going to change both of them soon for LED's thanks to your guide... Just 1 thing, I would of thought it would be better to use a flex rather than a single core wire for the connection to the target light assembly as it's frequently being moved... so just wondering why you recommended single core?.. Anyway thanks again for the guide.

@BPMgear Thank you for your feed back and kind words. Sure, I did a video on how to service the height adjustment, that will show you how to safely take the tone arm apart, the bits you can take apart anyway. I wouldn't take the Gimble apart, there are lots of tiny bearings inside there and you need specialised tools to do the screws up to a specific torque, or the tone arm will never work properly again. That video will help you take it apart safely. Thanks again for your comment Nice One ; )

Does it matter which wire goes through the switch? My turntables had the ground wire running through the switch, and the resistor connected to both ends of the resistor. And when I ordered an LED kit that came with instructions, they told me to attach the ground wire to the switch and just connect the live wires directly with the resistor in between, and no voltage regulator needed.
