“Comedy, this job on its best day, can sometimes be alchemy.” Comedian & actor Vir Das discusses the journey he’s been on over the last few years, from facing strong backlash over his poem “I Come From Two Indias,” to winning an International Emmy for his Netflix special about the aftermath of that controversy, “Vir Das: Landing.” Plus, he gives Kal Penn credit for influencing him to attend college in America and shares why it’s important to be “authentically Indian” on his 33-country Mind Fool stand-up tour. #DailyShow #VirDas #KalPenn

@@lonewolfe2502 The New Yorker is a magazine that did a article on Hasan Minhaj; fact checking him, claiming he made his stories up in his stand up specials like the prom date story. Even though he gave all the evidence like text messages to the journalist. They also spliced two quotes together to make it seem like Hasan said something else during the interview. The only thing Hasan changed was kind of minor things like location claiming to help connect with the audience. Hasan later posted a video on his KZbin channel with the audio recording of the interview with the journalist with all the evidence he gave to her which she never used. Was those changes that Hasan did necessary? I don't know as I'm not a expert in what goes into making a stand up comedy. But the magazine saying something totally different than what was said in the interview recording, are troubling.

Pls educate yourself before saying such things it may have been done by Indians BUT It came to the point due to religious affiliation one such eg-the Indians were using pig oil for their ammunition and Pakistanis were using cow oil for their ammunition which is respected and considered holy in each others religion. Maybe this info was left out when you were being taught how brits "developed" our nation by introducing railways.

Well, religion divided India as Muslims thought that they won't prosper in a Hindu ruled country. Not that Pakistan is doing any better though. Lol! India is thriving. Muslims in India are thriving as well. They are 20% in population now as compared to 7%. Whereas, Hindus and Sikhs population has decimated exponentially in Pak.

@@heygranti24To be fair 80 percent of the workers in Dubai or Kuwait are hindu . So that should balance the Hindu representation that's lacking in Pakistan. Interesting how Pakistan is the only muslim country you can compare with India though.

This was such an honest and respectful interview where both parties admire each others work, and rightly so. As an Indian, it gives me immense joy to see Vir Das succeed and I agree with everything he said here. It is because of people like Kal Penn that we can even think of coming to the US and making our mark globally. I love the immigrant show concept with Andy, can’t wait to watch it!! I’ve always seen shows where we see Indian representation as American born Indians but never how we come here when we’re adults and try to make a life. Wooh! So excited!!

Connection with the audience i guess. I have seen him live and it is entertaining but my favourite indian comic is Zakir Khan. His connection with his audience is unparalleled. He did a 2 and half hour set and it was just the most amazing and entertaining performance i have seen till now. But again Zakir khan’s comedy is very Indian, Vir Das has more international appeal.

This will sound like it’s coming out of my rear, but I think Vir should be the next Daily Show host and here is why: I saw him live recently at a small club and having gone to stand-up shows for years for many comics, this was easily one of (if not) the most memorable one. All I could think of was “I just witnessed a master at work.” It was literally a privilege and an experience I am taking to my grave. It was so intelligent, hilarious, so artfully delivered. And so he fits the Daily Show position perfectly.
