Butter out in containers like that just brings it to a soft and spreadable consistency. It stays good that way for a while. Some put it in the fridge overnight. It's preference. Otherwise the butter is super hard and will instantly tear any surface you're trying to put it on. That's why sometimes you'll see people purchase Country Crock which can be refrigerated but remains spreadable and then people will use the other butter in cooking.
@CharlenePink-Dufresne Жыл бұрын
As long as the butter is kept at room temperature and below its melting point it is good for a couple of weeks. Higher quality butter can last for up to a month out of the fridge. I use a French butter bell to keep mine fresh longer.

Things are really expensive here, though it looked as though a lot of the shopping trips in this video were to more expensive places so things would definitely cost more than if you went somewhere else. The baking soda in the fridge keeps your smelly foods like fish/cheese/meats etc from making your whole fridge smell like that. It's just a deodorizer :) I love watching your videos, so relaxing!

Yes, Richard, Americans do have chicken kiev but it's usually something found in a restaurant. Although, in today's market, kievs are generally something of a 1950's dish that homemakers used to make to be fancy. Kievs aren't in all the freezer aisles like they are in the UK and Australia - can't speak for other countries as I've not lived there. BTW, love your videos, I'm making my way through your back catalogue slowly but surely. I'm amazed because I don't really use tiktok much anymore it runs my phone battery dry and when I was in hospital last year several times, it was just something I had to uninstall , plus I was too sick to be doomscrolling all day.
I don't even look for pre-made things. That's what pots & pans and fresh ingredients are for. Cooking.

These kind of videos are a secret pleasure of mine. I don't know why but I'd be interested in learning what connects us all to this. I also love base building in video games and keeping stock of everything I can. If any of you ever played Subnautica, it was very much like this for me--especially batteries! I LOVE having a fresh full charge on all submarine batteries AND a back up set. So satisfying that I can go all the way wherever until they die, swap em out and come all the way back. Now I have one of those Ryobi multi-tool sets and just charging the 40v and 18v in a line up and ready to do whatever, feels amazing.

Yes, we have Chicken Kiev in the states (I am in Arizona). You can pick them up frozen to easily bake in the oven, but I prefer homemade. It is really not an American dish, but originally from the Ukraine, a Ukrainian chef actually perfected the original recipe of them....he was from Kiev. My grandparents on my father's side were from Siberia and my grandmother would make these from scratch...her's were the best! It consists of butter, Tarragon, parsley, chives, thyme and salt and pepper. You mix all that together and make a little log or loaf of it. Wrap that in chicken breast and bread it, then bake it. Grandma never timed her bakes, she always said something like "until it's bubbly" or the like.... but I go for about 40 minutes or so at 350. She regularly made homemade Borscht as well (boiled beets, basically) but that was just nasty, bland, mushy crap...not good at all, would not recommend. Love your reactions, you are one funny dude!

The baking soda in the frig and (I like it in the freezer as well)~ Keeps all the smells from mingling and making your whole frig smell weird. It just keeps your frig smelling clean & fresh. And yes it is expensive here in the USA. Example I went to the store today bought 2 boxes of flavor ice popscicles ($19.98) ~2 lbs cherry tomatoes ($6.98) ~ 3 lbs chicken strips ($16.98)~ 3.5 lbs slider hamburger patties ($14.99) ~ 5- pork Steaks ($24.97)~ 4 Muffins ($6.99) and a 20 oz Strawberry Dr. Pepper ($2.79) ~~ with taxes it cost $123.68 USD. For groceries for 1 month costs my household right at $600.00 -$650.00 for 2 people. And that is me shopping at the cheaper grocery stores. Not the high end stores like Target. Much Love from Mid Missouri USA

Baking Soda absorbs/neutralizes odors in the fridge (onion, garlic, seafood, etc.). Food & non food item prices can vary quite a bit by state, county, city, and even store. Some states tax food & some don't. Americans love chicken & convenience foods, so yes. We have frozen chicken: Kiev, Cordon Bleu (ham & Swiss stuffed), Broccoli & Cheddar, Parmesan (spaghetti sauce & provolone. Usually no actual parmesan, sadly), curry, barbecue, teriyaki, etc. Sometimes it's even vegan alternative. Assume we eat anything sweetened, dried, pickled, & fried. Thank you for being a funny guy.

My partner and I, on average, spend around $150-200 per week, here in Kansas. Would probably be less expensive if I wasn't allergic to half the food world. If we don't want to eat leftovers the next day for lunch at work, then we spend a little extra and pick up some stuff specifically for work.

Yes, my mom would buy a new backpack, for each kid (3), almost every year until high school. Part of it was the fact that after an entire school year in Vermont, (-10° in the winter, +90° in the summer, with maybe a month of spring and autumn in between the two),the bags would be pretty raggedy. The other part is, my mom grew up super poor, the youngest of 3 daughters, before the much awaited boy. She was the queen of hand-me-downs, and the only bag she had was for dance, and that's because her stuff would be confused with her sisters. She really wanted to give each of us a fresh start, every new school year; and even if a backpack was in decent condition, she'd ask if we wanted to keep it or pass it on. Each of her kids were so different in personality, she made sure to let us express our individuality in every way possible, even when money was tight; and in subtle ways, like our backpacks.

Wisconsinite here, real butter can be kept out on the counter as long as it is kept in a cool dark container with a little air flow. Air tight will create space for mold.
