. Cookie is a variant of the DOS virus family "SysLock" which is a direct-action infector of .COM and .EXE files (and potentially data files) anywhere on the primary disk partition (drive C). It is sometimes known in virus repositories as "Advent" which is technically another variant of "SysLock". It's infection appears to timeout after a few instances before its payload date (and it will still infect COMMAND.COM). SysLock's name has to do with how the virus can potentially damage files upon infection where they no longer work even after disinfection.
Payload: Anytime after April 1st running an infected program does a few things... First it appears to continue its infection routine after the payload date passes. Second it marks the running of the infected program and when approximately six instances of infected programs have run it displays its textual payload:
"I want a COOKIE!"
The virus waits at this screen until the user literally types the word "cookie" on the keyboard. After this it changes to "BURPS...." and then resumes running the original program. It then resets the counter until triggered again.
